July 19,2013

Re: yotr request in the April - June issue of the Battle Stars regarding personal experiences withpet*nal experiances with personnel of troops from other countries.

Al'McAdoo; The early part of March lgs3,the Charlie battery of the 555 FA received 25 South Korean soldiers. Iwas given the responsibility of splitting these soldiers into two eleven men gun sectiorts and the

,..ioir,g three went to thi s"*i". battery. Gun #6 was turned over to one of these sections (picture

enclosediand I do not remember where the other ll men landed up. My Mother saved all my letters

while I was in the military and I didn't disclosed where they might have gone in one of those letters

either. I and a Cpl was thin assigned to gun #6 as advisers. I would think the Cpl was a truck driver.

The end of March of 53,I rotated home.

Afew months back,I had a telephone conversation with Dennis Povlik and he indicated that gun

sections I &2were maned by South Koreans when the unit was run over by the Chinese- This means

that the other 11 men did returned to Charlie battery sometime after I left.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

I am sending a copy of this memo to *Ruck' in case he would like to include it in the next Battle Stars.

Dear Ruck, July 22,2013

Much appreciation for the outstanding job you did as the Editor of the Battle

Stars for the past 17 years. I am sorry to learn that you are stepping down but,

as you wrote in your iarewell letter, your mission as Editor was achieved. And

so I wish you the best with all your future endeavors.I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that you had included in the June

issue atl the material I had sent to you pertaining to Sgt Ofte. I had not men-

tioned in my letter that Sgt Otte had died some years ago. However, I have

been in contact with his family and lthought that they would enioy having a

copy of this latest issue. Please let me know if I can purchase 2 copies and

how much it will

Sincerely.
