CHURCH OFFICE HOURS
8:30-1:30 Monday-Thursday
Something New Every week I (Rev. Underwood) have to report sta-
tistics — how many were in church, in small groups,
offering totals. Most of those are easily obtained. But
one area they ask about I have less certainty about —
persons in mission and persons served. We talk about
“entering to worship” and “leaving to serve.” At a
Church Council meeting Elaine Carter even told
about a church they visited in their
travels that had a sign at the church
driveway exit: “YOU ARE NOW EN-
TERING THE MISSION FIELD.”
All to say, in the coming weeks we
are going to begin asking you to tell
us about how you have served Christ
by serving others. I’ll come up with
some kinds of card for us to use to
report. I know some of the volunteer work you do,
but I bet I/we will be surprised to find out how much
good Trinity members are doing week-in, week-out.
MEMBERS IN
MISSION!
Back-to-School Sunday August 12
In the Morning Service our theme
will be “What I Did on my Sum-
mer Vacation.” It’s going to be a lot
of fun!
After, as usual, we’ll enjoy a Salad
Luncheon in Trinity Hall. Please bring
a favorite salad or
dessert to share. The
Education Commit-
tee will provide
drinks and paper
products.

August 2012
Back-to-School Backpack Mission Remember how excited you were at the start of a new school year, and how
proud you were of your stash of protractor, compass, scissors, fresh composition
books and other goodies? We’re helping to make that experience possible for
some three dozen Wauka Mountain students. We have distributed empty back-
packs and you’ve claimed the list for one child, in one grade.
Enjoy gathering the supplies, get carried away and even get some things not on
the list. Write an encouraging note and tuck it in the back pack. Bring it to
church on Sunday, August 5 and we’ll get them delivered to Wauka Mountain by the start of school.
It’s Back-to-Church Time for Us, Too Hope you’ve enjoyed your summer vacation and getaways. But I missed you, as has God, at Sunday
Morning Worship. During these summer days I’ve been excitedly thinking and praying about Fall
possibilities. I hope you’re ready to be challenged and to jump in to participating in and supporting all
kinds of things, some on-going, some new.
Way to Go, Trinity! As Methodists, we support missions primarily through our apportionments. Hundreds, and thou-
sands, of life changing and life-saving ministries are enabled through our giving. They’re sometimes
called “a portion meant” for others. So far in 2012 we haven’t missed a month of our mission support.
Thank you for your faithfulness in giving to God and His church that makes that possible.
Action Heroes for Action Ministries On Labor Day in Gainesville, at Gainesville State College — and in venues in Atlanta, Athens, Augusta, and
Rome — Methodists will be participating in a 5K and raising money in support of Action Ministries, our minis-
try which helps the financially struggling of our communities. Runners are invited to dress up as their favorite
action hero (though you don’t have to).
Trinity has several runners. I’m sure if any of you would like to participate in this, that Trinity members
would be great supporters in pledging to your effort. Action heroes use their special talents to rescue those threatened
and endangered. I look forward to seeing several Trinity persons step out to be action heroes, whether in uniform or not!
And, by the way, they invite kids and pets to participate, too. You can even walk.
Go to http://www.actiondash.org/ more information or to register online.
Calendar FYI One more calendar note; if you’ll
notice on the on-line calendar:
There is an option to publish the
Trinity calendar to an i-calendar
format for everyone who uses an
iPhone or iPad, integrating church
information with your personal,
work, or sports
calendars. It’ll
make it easier to
keep God and
church in our
lives!

Children’s Ministry News Jennifer Collins The children have a great opportunity to decide
together on a name that describes their group and
their Kid’s Church area. We hope to have a final
decision on August 12 on the name. Papers were
taken home to the parent by each child to discuss
the names. Everyone is very excited. We’ll then
decorate the area accordingly and have a sign
made for inside the classroom.
Parents, check out the
new section for the chil-
dren's ministry on the
Trinity web site. It is up-
dated after every Sunday
with what lesson was cov-
ered, info on our next les-
son, and upcoming events.
We are working on memorizing the books of the Bible.
We will be presenting our memorizing in front of the
church in the months to come. I need every child to
please bring their own Bible to church each Sunday. to
practice.
Mark your calendars: Kids will sing in the Morn-
ing Service on September 23.
Hey kids! Bring your Bible every Sunday!
Parents & Adults Make a Difference! We’re always looking for people to sign up to help
each Sunday as a Children’s Church helper.
Maybe you’re one that wants to help but your not sure
what you would need to do. Well, it is really simple and
you would have lots of fun with the children.
For example, on a typical Sunday two things you
would do is hand out the juice boxes at the beginning
and hand out the final take home papers at the end.
Then during the lesson we love for our helpers to add to
the discussion if they would like to.
The Sign-Up Sheet in in the sanctuary on Sundays, or
call the church office during the week. Thanks!
