This year’s event will be even more exciting than in years past. General Screw Up Dale Parvin will again lead the charge to raise money for the Rotary event of the year. With his trusty assistant Sgt.

Patrick (advance to the rear) Ellis, they have scheduled some exciting battles that will ring throughout the Moorpark hillsides the entire weekend. This year’s night battle will light up the moonlit evening with

gun smoke, cannon fire, and flashing swords till the sound of Taps echoes thru the misty night air. Dancing, music, drinking, food, merriment and fun for all who care to step back in time to celebrate

this special event. Don’t miss it!!!

ANCIENT HISTORY- Margit and Randy Wheeler receive a personal private tour of the Moorpark Mammoth bones at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, courtesy of Jeff Grossman, the museum's director of membership. The tusk pictured is about 6 to 7 feet long. The age of a mam-moth can be determined from the rings in the tusk, much like the rings of a tree reveal the tree's age.

Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors & Benefactors:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more probems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too lit-tle, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but ac-complish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more com-puters to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less. To be continued next week...
