On December 15th we helped host the first ever Christmas Open House at ourbeautiful new office. In June we moved the Mobilization Division of the U.S. Center fWorld Mission to a great space right on Fayettevilles historic square, and everyone wexcited to have a chance to show many of our friends, supporters, and fellow missionworkers from Northwest Arkansas the office. After weeks of planning by all the staff, the party began at 5:30 sharp. All the guests (and staff of course) enjoyed the fabuloussnacks and cookies made by members of our staff. Joe and I were thrilled to meet withseveral of our dear friends and supporters and give them a personal tour. The wholeevening was a perfect time of fellowship and growing relationships.
We are always lookingfor ways to grow in ourprofession and in ourrelationship with Jesus. These are books werecommend. Let us knowif you come across a bookor resource worth sharing.
Made to Stickby brothers,
Chip and Dan Heath,is an
excellent read that will
transform the way you
communicate ideas. The
concepts and insights in
this book will have a direct
impact on my daily work.
I will be referencing this
book for years to come.
Were reading Developing
the Leaders Around You by
John C. Maxwell as a staff
and discussing the prin-
ciples we have learned and
how we can apply them in
our organization. This book
will challenge your devotion
to your personal growth.
An athlete will run 1,000
miles to run the perfect 1/4
mile. This is the same kind
of energy we need to put
into our spiritual disciplines
and R. Kent Hughes helps
us understand the best
practices. A great book
to read and discuss in an
accountability relationship.
As we welcome the new year these are some of the blessings we will
experience, goals we will achieve, and activities that make up our lives:
Audra Michie, Tisha Patton and
Joe Michie welcome guests.
We dont miss many town
events being on the square.

What is mobilization andwhat role does it play inevangelizing the world?
Phil Parshall, missionary and authordescribed mobilizers this way:
Someone must sound the rallying
call. Those who desire to see others
trained, prepared and released toministry are known as mobilizers.
Mobilizers stir other Christians to ac
tive concern for reaching the world.
They coordinate efforts betweensenders, the local churches, sending
agencies, and missionaries on the
field. Mobilizers are essential.
To understand the role of mobilizersthink of World War II as a parallel.
Only 10% of the American popula-
tion went to the war. Of those, only
1% was actually on the firing lines.
However, for them to be successful their mission, the entire country had
to be mobilized!
What if the Body of Christ could be
stirred to action in the same wayParshall describes Americas total
involvement in World War II?
Who is going to rally the troops
across the planet to understandand engage in the greatest, most
significant battle in all of history: the
evangelization of the world in this
generation? In Numbers 10:1-2, theLord said to Moses, Make two silve
trumpets for yourself ... you shall
use them for calling the congrega-
tion and for directing the movemenof the camps. One trumpet to call
and get everyones attention and the
other to direct the troops. A good
metaphor depicting the essential rolof the mobilizer! Steve Shadrach
Director of Mobilization Divisio
Our ministry is mobilization. We are Mobilizers. By using our gift
and expertise in marketing, adver-tising and design we are engaging,
educating and inspiring believers toexperience and/or host the Inter-
nationally acclaimed Perspectives
movement which is one of the mostinfluential mobilizing ministries in
the nation and around the world.
Through December we read an advent book withthe children as they took turns each day decoratinga miniature tree with ornaments. They all lovedcounting down the days to Christmas. A whiteChristmas was the icing on the cake! We alsohad a wonderful time with family over New Years.
Raising support is a vital part of our ministry.Building financial partnerships gives many families
the opportunity to mobilize the body of Christ alongwith us. Please pray with us in these key areas:
For strong monthly partnerships tocontinue to grow
For a healthy base of annual partnershipsto develop
That we continue to meet new peoplethrough referrals

John, CNM and Penny Alden, RN are dear friends and have been serving atthe Hospital Loma de Luz for five years. Read how the Perspectives coursehas influenced their ministry focus and inspired a new direction.
About 10 of us missionaries in Balfate, Hon-duras, met weekly with our leader, Dr. Don, whois passionate about missions. He guided us thru
the Perspectives Reader, assigning readings toeach person and directing the discussion. What
we learned about sustainable church planting(what makes a church viable, the need not onlyto plant churches, but to disciple, train, and equipthem to be a sending church) has changed ourfocus in ministry. We are praying for the Northcoast of Honduras to become a mission sendingbase from which Honduran missionaries will besent out to other countries. We were challengedto prepare redemptive analogies that suited ourHonduran friends to use their culture to sharethe gospel with unreached people groups beyondtheir borders. Because of the impact Perspectiveshas had on our vision for this ministry, we arerecommending that our sending church make thePerspectives course a prerequisite for prospectivemissionaries sent out from their community.
