Reflecting on 2017, I realized our year was filled with many highs as well as a many lows. We experienced new additions to our congregation, increased engagement with our community, and significant spiritual
growth both personally and congregationally. However, we also lost a few very significant individuals due to personal and medical reasons, all while simultaneously having our congregational life impacted by the vast number of major events taking place within our world. Individual impacts of 2017 vary and we may never collective agree or find resolve for all we had to endured, however, we can collectively agree 2017 touched the fabric of our congregation and our country in a significant way. As we enter into 2018, many people find themselves longing for a positive sign about the future. Something from God that provides reassurance the moral, ethical and spiritual downward spiral, will at some point reverse. As I pondered this, taking into consideration our own congregational needs, I was lead to the story of King Hezekiah. As leader of Judah, Hezekiah understood what it meant to live in a world that was surrounded with death, devastation, and daily threat of war. Hezekiah however was a man of great faith who valued the commands of God. He consistently found himself in a posture of prayer. He prayed because he knew Gods had a great track record of being a deliver, and he prayed because he recognized it was too much at stake not to pray.
What I admire most about King Hezekiah is how his faith remained consistent even when death was the decree for his life. Instead of accepting death, Hezekiah goes into intentional prayer, expressing to God the historical fruit produced from his service and the benefit of his preservation. As a result of his faith prayer, God divinely reverses his situation; extends his life, delivers him and Judah from the threat of persecution, and heals his body. The days ahead may continue to be filled with uncertainty, however we must remember even in the face of death, devastation, & division, God listens to our prayers. The question becomes have we been praying?

“Happy New Year” A WORD FROM THE REGIONAL
MINISTER & PRESIDENT
Christmas Is a Season and a Spirit
What good things have begun in our world through the coming of the Christ Child!
Truly, God continues to be bless and encourage the church to continue through
these 12 Days of Christmas, and far into the new year through the spirit of generosity that
is expressed so beautifully in the worship, stewardship, and mission of each member
and each congregation. Let us continue with the celebration of God's love made known in
Jesus Christ our Lord.
So, once again, Merry Christmas, and may the new year be blessed!
