Our final Buy A

Kid Breakfast collec-

tion may have suffered

from Kiwanian volun-

teers, probably due to

the too-close proximity

to Christmas—Saturday

was the last free shop-

ping day for most peo-

ple before the Christ-

mas break—but it cer-

tainly brought out the

giving nature in the cus-

tomers at Hurleys Su-

permarket

Just over $2,100

was raised towards the

amount needed to en-

sure that the Principals

at North Side, East End,

Bodden Town, Prospect

Primary and George

Town Primary can call

on us for any financial

support they need to

ensure that all children

who are sent to school

without breakfast re-

ceive a meal at the

school.

Buy A Kid

Breakfast typically

costs about CI$7,500 or

so per term. In order to

meet the needs for the

Spring Term of 2011,

we must collect in the

Fall Term of 2010. And

BREAKING NEWS

Round Tables There will be no meeting on 29 Dec but you can attend a “round table” social at the usual meeting time at the res-taurant.

New Christmas Tree

Thank you to P Wiekert Weber for the donation of a 4’ tall LED-lit Christmas Tree for use at all of our events where a table-top tree is needed. Equipped with a small computer which varies the colour, fre-quency and number of lights lit, the tree was put to good use at the BAKB collection at Hur-leys where it was espe-cially effective in attract-ing donors in the early morning and after 6pm in the evening when the lights really grabbed any passer-by’s attention. A glimpse of the new tree, which will also comple-ment our existing tree for Santa Landing, can be seen in the picture to the right.

K Monique goes straight Both P Wiekert and PP Paul failed to recognise K Monique in her new casual pony-tail hairstyle with a straight-ened look. She con-fessed to being nervous that the Santa hat would crimp her style!

Christmas is not a time or a season but a state of mind. To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

The six permanent Objects of Kiwanis International

were approved by Kiwanis club delegates at the 1924

International Convention in Denver, Colorado. Through the decades,

they have remained unchanged.

To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the

material values of life.

To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human

relationships.

To promote the adoption and the application of higher social,

business, and professional standards.

To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggres-

sive, and serviceable citizenship.

To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form

enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build

better communities.

To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opin-

ion and high idealism which make possible the increase of right-

eousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.
