TRANSCRIPT
Santa will once again
arrive at Owen Roberts Air-
port on December 4th to dis-
tribute gifts to up to 800
needy children in Grand Cay-
man.
For the first time, it
is also difficult for us as a club
to predict how many children
will be at the event since the
changes to the immigration
law have meant a reduction in
the number of “families” in
the Cayman Islands on work
permit. Of course, many kids
will arrive from Jamaica to
visit a parent or other family
resident here and so planning
is difficult.
Chairman and IPP
Mario Barrett and his commit-
tee have decided to allow for
800 gifts. If there is a surplus
they can be stored at SAVPO,
the old Savannah Post Office
which we now have as a stor-
age unit for the BookMobile,
Santa Landing and Key Lead-
er materials and equipment.
There are many
things which make a success-
ful Santa Landing and a won-
derful way to close out our
year of service, although the
BookMobile will still have
one Saturday session before
Christmas. Here is a list of
the activities for which we
need great support from our
members and the Key Clubs,
Builders Clubs and Circle K.

pitched in to help for just a few hours at the Airport Park..
P Wiekert and Ki-
waniBike Chair Monique
supported by PP Paul wel-
comed representatives from
Cayman Heart Fund to ac-
cept a cheque for
CI$3,288.40 which is half of
the proceeds from Ki-
waniBike after expenses.
Mrs Suzy Soto accepted the
cheque on behalf of CHF
and Sue Rajah the CHF ad-
ministrator was also there.
K Monique also
presented awards plaques to
(a) Michelle Miller and
Mary Anne Kosa of Phoenix
Construction who won the
overall trophy for most
funds raised per employee,
(b) Tina Stanford and Re-
bekah Gibson for the most
funds raised by an organisa-
tion—CI$690, and (c) Emily
Randall and David Kay of
PriceWaterhouseCoopers for
the largest team of riders—
14 in all.
Correspondence has
been received from many
riders saying how much they
enjoyed the event, despite
the headwind which made
the ride more difficult than
usual and the 21 miles seem
more like 30 miles.
Chair Monique has
a great new foundation to
build on for next year’s Ki-
waniBike and will have
many suggestions from this
year’s riders to increase both
the party atmosphere and the
fund-raising aspects.

BOOKMOBILE This Saturday If you have
not listened to a young
child attempt to read to
you at George Town
Primary, you are miss-
ing out on one of the
greatest privileges that
we, as Kiwanis mem-
bers, receive—the
ability to help a child grow their education so that all
through school and the remainder of their lives, things
will be just that bit easier.
We need as many as possible this Saturday
since a few of our regulars are unavoidably not able
to attend.
So please get out to George Town Primary
for at least an hour between 10am and 1pm on Satur-
day and be a Kiwanian—help to change a child for
the better.

SMU Circle K is an unusual club
since it experiences high mem-
bership turnover due to the short
period of secondment of students
to the Cayman Islands—
typically two years. The club is
active in the BookMobile
programme. SMU members
assist in ensuring improved
reading skills of the George
Town Primary students by
leading sessions in which
children read rather than just
passively listen to an adult
reading. In addition the club has
done work with Bonaventure
Boys Home and with the Hu-
mane Society.

St Ignatius Builders Club is
hosting a Food For Fitness
competition between schools
Nov 15 to Dec 15. For every
pound lost, a pound of food is
donated to the local food bank.
For example, if the St. Ignatius
Team together loses 15lbs. of
weight, then 15lbs of food will
be donated to Red Cross by
SIBC. Thanks to Ray Singh
the challenge will end with a

The six permanent Objects of Kiwanis International
were approved by Kiwanis club delegates at the 1924
International Convention in Denver, Colorado. Through the decades,
they have remained unchanged.
To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the
material values of life.
To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human
relationships.
To promote the adoption and the application of higher social,
business, and professional standards.
To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggres-
sive, and serviceable citizenship.
To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form
enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build
better communities.
To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opin-
ion and high idealism which make possible the increase of right-
eousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.
