Why Do You “Like”
a Link on Facebook?
‘cause content that triggers an emotional response
is more likely to be shared.
Most shared articles are those that evoke a “emotion
of self-transcendence”- a feeling of admiration and
elevation.
In other words… People share stuff that ignites a little
spark in them!
So what does this Kindergarten concept like sharing mean for
you & your creative business?
‘cause a clear way to generate and nurture leads is
to create content.
post a blog article
create videos
share a link
record a podcast
write an guide
Sites that facilitate sharing
generate 7 X more
mentions online
than those that don’t
So, how do you get folks to share your stuff online?
Tonight, I’m gonna’ share 4
social media sharing tips
to get you started.
Ask Yourself: “would I share this?”
1
Judge everything you produce Facebook wall post
Use the criterion of whether you yourself would like , or
share it.
The goal actually is not only to reach just your
network, but your network’s network.
People don’t spread mediocrity- they spread
great stuff.
They share stuff that inspires
them to care.
If you sell something that’s not inherently interesting like shoe laces- you might
feel at a disadvantage.
But you shouldn’t…
Take a Stand!
2
Despite what your mom might have said-
Having an opinion and expressing it- inspires others
at an emotional level.
So take a stand about something- become a linchpin for discussion
around the topic.
Part of the reason people share content that offers
validation those
who share it.
68% of respondents who share do so to give others a
better sense of who the sharer is and what she or he
cares about.
Let your readers know where you are coming from, or how
you feel about a topic.
Make Sharing As
Effortless as Possible
3
It seems like a no-brainer to add social sharing icons to
your sites.
But of it’s so stupid- easy, why don’t most sites do it?
Only 53% of people actually place social media widgets
on their sites.
Pasting those buttons prominently onto your online content encourages sharing
by making it easy, and it adds an element of social proof.
Add this and Share This
Don’t forget to embed sharing options on
everything you produce.
Create Wings
4
At least some winged content that can soar across
the social web.
Create things they’ll want to pass around or embed on
their own social media site.
Offer a free download from your site and encourage
readers to pass it around to friends.
When you upload any video, audio, or photograph – be sure your setting allow the
sharing of that content.
