•  Only13amongthe101middle-incomeeconomiesinthe1960ssuccessfullytransi2onedtohigh-incomeeconomiesby2008(WorldBank2012)•  EquatorialGuinea,Greece,Ireland,Israel,Mauri2us,Portugal,Spain,PuertoRico,Japan,HongKong,Singapore,SouthKorea,andTaiwan

•  JapanandthefourAsian2gersmaintainedhighgrowthduringtheirmiddleincometransi2onbyrelyingonexports,movingfromlowtohighvalue-addedproducts
