Just a friendly reminder that there is no parking in

the handicap spaces. This

also applies to sitting in

your car while it is idling.

We understand that

although this is more

convenient it does cause a

burden to those who rely on

the handicap parking. Thank you for your

cooperation with this matter.

Invitation to apply to serve on the CCSD Community Wellness Committee

The goals of the Cherry Creek Schools Comprehensive Wellness Strategy are to reduce barriers to learning and develop skills that support lifelong healthy living. Our framework is the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model which emphasizes the importance of community and parent partnership. As such, we are currently seeking parents interested in providing input into the district’s comprehensive wellness efforts by serving as a member of the CCSD Community Wellness Committee (CWC).

To learn more about committee participation and access a membership application, please use the following link: www.goo.gl/piZerx. We value your ideas, feedback and interest in supporting the health and wellness of all the students, staff and families in the Cherry Creek community. Thank you in advance for your contributions and service.

Maybe you remember the first time you heard about an educator initiated grant? “EIGs” provide opportunities for teachers and classrooms to take ideas to reality. The impact and innovation through Cherry Creek Schools Foundation funding is made possible by contributions big and small…It All Adds Up. This year another 91 EIGs were funded thanks to our donors. Ideas in science, technology, engineering, arts and math have

blossomed because of the commitment of schools, teachers and students to put donated funds to good use. This year, in lieu of other gifts (or in addition), donate in honor of a teacher. It is a gift that gives twice: 1. Honor the teacher (you enter the name with the donation, and we the foundation notifies them). 2. The funds enhance classroom experiences and 21st century skills can flourish. Visit www.ccsdfoundation.org, click the donate icon on the top of the screen, enter donation details including those you wish to honor. Once your gift is complete, feel the joy of giving with the knowledge that you are done shopping for teacher gifts AND you gave with impact. Happy holidays from Cherry Creek Schools Foundation. If you have questions, please call 720.554.4429 or email [email protected].

Michaela Onyenwere and Fabian Santillan were honored by the League for their tremendous performance in basketball and wrestling respectively. Fabian won the tournament of Champions in Reno Nevada gaining all American Status. Michaela has led her team all year and just passed the 2,000 point mark leaving her in an elite group of very few Colorado.

GATORADE NATIONAL RUNNER OF THE YEAR: Our own Brie Oakley was named the GNROY at the end of January putting her in an extreme elite group of student athletes. Brie’s national record time in cross-country, her countless hours of public service, and her 4.6 GPA helped secure this award for her. The Gatorade crew sent out a large media team and produced a tribute to her which included a training run with professional Molly Huttle. Congrats to Brie, Coach Robbins and the Wolf Cross Country team. Check this Gatorade video of the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IABy3oXiOmc&feature=youtu.be

Girls Basketball (Head Coach Josh Ulitzky, [email protected]) What a great year for the Lady Wolves who are 16-1 after 17 games including a last second win over the number 2 team in the country in Arizona in December. They are currently ranked 1st in the League, 1st in the state and 6th in the country. Joseph is a 6 year old boy from our very own back yard of Aurora, Colorado, who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Grandview has ¨adopted¨ Joseph as its Wish Child 2017, to make his dream of seeing the Fireworks at Walt Disney World with his family a reality. As a school, it is our goal to raise $15,000 for Joseph and his family.

Throughout the week of February 13-17, we will be hosting many events, much like home-coming week, with all proceeds going to Make-A-Wish, toward Joseph’s wish. We know we cannot do this on our own! We would greatly appreciate your support for and attendance at these events. If Grandview’s student body and staff come together to support these special events, we can truly make a little boy’s wish come true.

This week, although it is a lot like homecoming, is something so much larger than ourselves. It would be amazing to see Grandview’s student body and staff come together, not to cheer on the football team, not to listen to the beautiful voices in the choir, but to help a little boy attain his wish of going to Disney World.

As one of the top schools in the district academically, it is safe to say the Wolves of Grandview are very blessed. Now, it is our turn to help, Joseph, who is not as blessed, experience his one wish.

I have attached a 2 minute promo to this donation page. Please view it and catch up on all our previous Wish Kids and learn a little bit more about Joseph. Thank you all for your cooperation, participation and understanding. We are all looking forward to our Wish Week, and to helping make Joseph’s wish come true. https://youtu.be/kFsJOt-ZV78

GAIT - PASS: Grandview Accountability Improvement Team Partnership for Academically Successful Students

GAIT-PASS would like to welcome you to the 2016-17 school year. We enjoyed

connecting with many of you during the check-in process, and we have received interest from other outreach efforts as well. As a reminder, here are a few points explaining the purpose of

GAIT-PASS:

GAIT-PASS is a committee of parents and staff that combines the functions of a school accountability committee with the functions of an equity-focused PASS group.

Together, we discuss academic and social aspects of Grandview High School with the goal of

making sure every student has the opportunities and support they need to be successful.

We additionally strive to engage in meaningful and effective partnerships with our African American and Latino families to promote the academic success of students of color.

Through participation in GAIT-PASS, you have an opportunity to connect with Grandview staff and administration to discuss current school policies, practices, and climate, while learning to navigate all that is Grandview High School. We are looking forward to a great year! Dear Senior Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

Congratulations to you and your son or daughter on reaching this important milestone! Graduation for the Class of 2017, will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. in the Magness Arena at the University of Denver Ritchie Center. As with all important family and community celebrations, there are many details that contribute to a successful and enjoyable day.

Two parent information meetings have been scheduled to provide you with the Grandview Commencement Ceremony information. You and your graduate must attend one of these mandatory meetings in order to participate in our commencement ceremony and receive your graduation tickets. During these meetings, Dr. Lisa Sprague, your student’s counselor and I will provide you with all the important graduation information you will need. Tuesday, April 11 will be the meeting date for seniors whose last names begin with A-K. Wednesday, April 12 will be the meeting date for seniors whose last names begin with L-Z. These short meetings will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the Grandview Auditorium. Immediately following each meeting, graduation tickets will be distributed.

If your graduate does not plan to walk in the Commencement Ceremony at Magness Arena on May 26, you must still sign the graduation contract informing us of your intentions. Contracts will be available at the mandatory meeting. Students who choose not to participate in the graduation ceremony may pick up their diplomas in the Activities Office during the week following commencement.

If you will be needing a sign language interpreter for these evenings, please feel free to contact Diane Koerner at 720-886-6527.

For planning purposes, we have included the Senior Events Calendar on the reverse side. Please refer to that calendar for important upcoming events.

Sincerely,
