Google “Magic” Online Review Attraction System
Introduction It’s no secret, 89% of consumers are using search engines to help them research their purchasing
decisions. Even when a patient learns about your practice through another medium (word of mouth,
mailers, pennysaver ads, billboards…), the first thing they do is search for you ONLINE. Therefore, it is
imperative that you take full control of your online reputation. The EASIEST way to do that is to get as
many POSITIVE reviews and video testimonials as you can in the most authoritative and visible sources
and this guide will tell you exactly how!
Although these strategies can be applied to any review ecosystem, I’m going to focus solely on
Google reviews. Since Google searches make up between 65-70% of all local search queries, it is vital that
you do everything in your power to look your best on the internet giant.
If you only make one business decision this week month YEAR, make implementing this Google
Review Attraction System your #1 priority. It is amazing how this SIMPLE, proven system will not only get

What are Google Reviews and Why are They SO Important? Good question! Google reviews are a part of Google Plus ecosystem and allow Google users to
share their experiences at a variety of businesses. Google takes this information and includes it in it’s
“local search” results to help users make better informed decisions. This includes both results visible on
both the Search Engine Results Page (SERP) and Google Maps.

As you can see in the screenshot in figure 1, obtaining a large quantity of quality Google reviews
can really make your listing stand out in the crowd. Smiles of Chattanooga have done a wonderful job at not
only using an effective Local Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to get top billing in the map listing, but
they back it up by having a large number of people openly vouching for them and providing them “social
proof” and AUTHORITY.
I would also like you to take note of the listing for “Shallowford Family Dental Group” as well.
Notice how Google Reviews can make your listing more attractive to a prospective patient even if there
are other listings ranked ahead of you! Honestly, if you had to choose a dental office between
CHATTANOOGA DENTAL CARE, Dentistry of Chattanooga, or Shallowford Family Dental Group with just this
information, who would you choose?

Who can write a review? Anyone with a Google/Gmail account (ex. [email protected])! Unfortunately, this can’t be
circumvented, however, the good news is that many patients do have an active account even if they are
unaware of it!
Here are a two great tips that will help you spot active Google users:
1. Look in your patient database for individuals who have provided you with a Gmail address for their
email. If they are actively receiving email through that address, they are good to go.
2. Be aware of the type of phone your patients are using around your office. Android is the mobile
division of Google and is present on a majority of “non-iPhone” devices (think Samsung, HTC, LG,
Motorola, Sony, etc.). Since Android is owned and operated by Google, all Android users are
required to have a Google account.
Although there will be Google users who don’t fall into either of these categories, these two
groups are a perfect starting point to begin acquiring amazing reviews quickly!
Where do patients go to write a review? Patients are able to use our custom link to write a review while either in the office or elsewhere
since it works on both mobile devices (smartphone/tablets) and traditional computers (desktops/laptops).
Simply have the patient visit the provided custom URL by either typing it into their internet
browser (Chrome/Safari/etc.) or by scanning your custom QR code.
*Note: We strongly encourage practices to steer patients toward leaving a review on their mobile device,
that way you don’t run the risk of having the patient not receive your email, forget to do it at home, or get
confused about the process. If they leave you a review in the office, your staff can step in and help at any
time and once they are finished they don’t have to worry about having any “homework”!

BEST Methods for Getting MORE Reviews! As alluded to earlier, the ultimate goal of this system is to streamline the Google review process
for your best patients so they can tell the world about the quality service you provide! Although this guide
does NOT guarantee that you will get a review from every patient you ask, it DOES dramatically increase
the likelihood that you will receive reviews from qualified patients. So let’s get to it!
Determining which method to use We have constructed a well thought out flow chart for you and your front desk staff that
accurately directs you to the most efficient method to receive a review from a patient based on a short
series of unobtrusive questions.

The purpose of this flowchart is to answer several key questions:
1. Is this someone our practice would like to have leave us a review?
2. Are they an Android user? Which we know have an active Google Account on their phone.
3. If they are an iPhone/Windows user, do they know their Gmail login information offhand?
4. Is leaving a mobile review out of the picture? Then we should send them the template email with
the link specific to our office so they can leave us a review when they get home. Remember, bonus
points for [email protected] email addresses!
Once you know the best available method for the particular patient you are working with it is time
to take action!
Mobile Browser (ALL Android users and iPhone/Windows Phone users with a Google Account) This method is an excellent way to get reviews from patients who have an Android phone and
those that have an iPhone/Windows Phone and a Google/Gmail account. However, even if the patient
does not have a Google account, there is an opportunity for them to sign up using this process.
Google has made it possible to leave a review for a practice directly from the search result page
and we have created a custom link for your practice that will take the reviewer directly to your page.
Once the patient has visited that link. All they have to do is tap on the rightmost number of stars
they would like to leave. For example, if a patient would like to leave a 5 star review, just tap the star all
the way on the right and the remaining stars will automatically populate.
At this point, the patient may be prompted to log in. They can sign in using an existing
Google/Gmail account or create a new account by click on the “Create Account” link located beneath the
sign in information.
If you are already logged in you will be taken to the review page where you can now text in a
review as long or as short as you’d like. Once you are finished, tap the arrow in the top right corner to
publish the review. You should be able to see your review immediately, however, people on other devices
will experience a delay which can vary from a couple of minutes to hours. Once it has posted, now anyone
searching you on any of Google’s platforms will see this review.

Template Email (Great for Everyone! Especially Gmail users) Some patients may not have a smartphone, a Google account, or they may be running late and
need to leave the office immediately after their appointment. In all of these cases, we encourage you to
send these patients a template email that simply explains why their review is important to you and
provide them the most direct link (we will give this to you) to use to leave you a review.
We also include the 4 step registration process for a Google account for those patients who don’t
have an account but are willing to set one up! They can even sign up using their current email address to
create an account if they don’t want Gmail. Once they have an account they are good to go!
So here it is, feel free to copy and paste, BUT be sure to add the patient’s name, personalize your
signature, and add the correct personalized URL links! Remember this is just a template, feel free to add or
remove whatever you’d like!
******Pro-tip: In addition to sending your patients this email some of our most successful clients
actually keep a stack of a generic version of the email at the front desk and distribute them to the patient
as well. This provides an extra reminder to the patient when they are emptying their pockets/purse/car at
the end of the day. When handing out the email, it’s best to physically highlight the link that they need to
click on and the sign up instructions if necessary to get them familiar with how it works.

Handwritten Letters Lastly, several of our clients have had a great deal of success by simply asking for Google reviews
using handwritten letters. This can easily be implemented by having each staff member select 1 or 2
patients to contact using a brief, candid letter that kindly asks the patient to leave your practice a positive
Google review. Since we are constantly bombarded with more and more electronic communication each
day, using this traditional method does an excellent job of separating yourself from the pack and showing
your patients that you truly care. This strategy also works well to get reviews from your amazing patients
that are between their scheduled cleanings and won’t be back to the office for several more months.

Overview Video testimonials about your practice are an excellent “qualitative” complement to great
“quantitative” Google Reviews. The beauty behind them is that they give new potential patients the
opportunity to see the work you provide first hand and they can finally put a face/human element to the
great reviews they’ve been reading on your Google+ Business Listing.
In addition, these videos can also rank on the major search engines, like Google. Therefore, it is
advantageous to get video content for each procedure you perform so we can target the relevant
keywords and get them ranking as soon as possible. The more real estate we can occupy on the first page
of a Google search result drastically increases the chance that the prospective patient will click through
our material!
