Spock. 1969. San Francisco, the big peace march organised by ‘the Mobe’. Over a million people marched to the Golden Gate Bridge Park. Crosby, Stills and Nash sang. Spock from Star Trek spoke. Marijuana smoke wafted up to the heavens. Then David Hilliard got up to speak. He was the Chief of Staff of the Black Panther Party, the highest ranking member who wasn’t either dead or in jail.

‘You want peace in Viet Nam?,’ he said.
