We have a Band 8A vacancy for a Clinical Midwifery Manager for in-patient midwifery services. We have a Band 8A vacancy for a Clinical Midwifery Manager Community services. The post is 37.5 hours for a period of 6 months in the first instance. Secondment opportunity is available as is job share.

This is an exciting time for our Unit and maternity services within NHS Fife. We are looking for a visionary leader who can drive and sustain change ensuring that community and outpatient midwifery services are delivering the highest evidenced based flexible care for women and families.

You will work closely with the Quality Improvement Midwife, In-patient midwifery manager and the Children’s clinical nurse manager to support a seamless integrated service for women experiencing physiological birth at either the MLU or at home, whilst supporting an MDT approach for women with more complex care needs who will birth at the CLU.

Ideally, you will have multi-agency/partnership working experience and the ability to work strategically to develop an integrated service that supports Best Start recommendations.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative individual to work as a Clinical Nurse Educator within the Critical Care Unit. Our Critical Care Unit consists of a 10 bedded Intensive Care Unit, and two High Dependency Units, Medical and Surgical, each with their own dedicated Senior Charge Nurses and nursing teams.

We are seeking a passionate Clinical Nurse Educator who can make a meaningful contribution to supporting excellence in clinical nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse Educator will play an integral role in the management and delivery of education and staff development across our intensive care and high dependency units. We are looking for an experienced, person centred, professional critical care nurse with a passion for teaching and who has extensive critical care experience. You will promote excellence in nursing as a resource and a role model and will act as an expert, giving clinical counsel to staff; leading efforts related to implementation, evaluation and identification of evidence based practice, staff specific education, and patient education.

This post is full time, 37.5 hours per week, predominantly worked over a five day week, Monday to Friday. There is also a requirement to for the occasional weekend day working to cover the duty charge nurse shift for the directorate.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced critical care nurses who already possess postgraduate qualifications in teaching, critical care nursing or significant equivalent experience. Ideally you should be educated to masters degree level or have the ability to demonstrate working at masters degree level appropriate to this clinical area. You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice experience in critical care with a minimum of five years intensive care nursing experience to undertake and fulfil the key areas for required for this post.

Due to the retirement of the current post holder in the Victoria Maternity Unit, Kirkcaldy, Fife, we are now advertising the role of Clinical Risk midwife. Although working within the multidisciplinary team you will work autonomously to ensure clinical risk and clinical governance remain high profile within the organisation. You will be responsible for the Clinical Risk Management Strategy within the directorate and will also have a continued clinical commitment. It is essential you are a Registered Midwife with valid NMC Registration and post graduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively & efficiently.

You should possess excellent team working skills with effective communication and time management skills also. The unit was opened in January 2012, and as well as the outpatient and community settings has a high risk Consultant Unit and a low risk Midwife Led Unit, with approx 3500 births per year.

The main location will be based within Victoria Maternity Hospital with a requirement to travel across Fife on occasions. You will demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative, managing your workload effectively.

Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners work effectively as senior members of the Hospital at Night team ensuring the delivery of high quality clinically effective care, utilising advanced clinical skills and knowledge.

We are seeking an individual to join the established Hospital at Night Service. You should be a registered nurse, with an understanding and demonstrable knowledge of the demands of working within an acute environment with evidence of post registration study or equivalent experience in advanced clinical decision making. As a minimum you will have certified clinical examination, assessment and diagnostic skills at level 11.

In line with the national arrangements for pay and banding of trainees, this post is open to suitable individuals who can demonstrate an ability to develop into the role of Advanced Nurse Practitioner following the successful completion of a structured academic and in-house training program.

Individuals who meet the full requirements for the role of Advanced Nurse Practitioner will commence on Band 7. Those applicants who are interested in developing into the role following the successful completion of both academic qualifications and an in-house Advanced Nurse Practice Toolkit will commence on Band 6 in line with Annex 21 (pay and banding of trainees). On successful completion of this program you will be transferred to Band 7.

The Nutrition & Dietetic Department is a Fife wide service providing Dietetic care to one Acute hospital, Primary Care hospitals and the community. The department provides Dietetic Practice Placement Education for both B and C placements. To support staff with their continuing professional development the department runs regular department training sessions.

The service is looking to recruit an experienced Dietitian to lead the Acute Adult Dietetic team within the Fife Wide Nutrition & Dietetic Service. This team provides services on the Victoria Hospital,(Kirkcaldy), Queen Margaret Hospital (Dunfermline) and St Andrews Hospital sites.

You will provide leadership and operational management to this team which consists of a number of full time and part time posts (16 staff, 40% of the department) currently working across Emergency Care, Planned Care, Ambulatory Care. Registered with HCPC, you will have the skills, competencies and experience appropriate for the post.

Job Purpose: • To support the Professional Head of Service and other Clinical Leads and

participate in the Strategic Planning of the Fife wide service• To provide leadership to the Acute Adult team within the Nutrition & Dietetic

You will be expected to work Fife wide. This is a secondment post and at the end of this time, it is expected that you will return to your substantive post.

You will be expected to work autonomously being able to manage and prioritise the many clinical and managerial demands placed on them. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NHS Fife Occupational Therapy Service for a Band 4 Occupational Therapy support worker to work within the Medical Occupational Therapy team. This post is based in the acute medical wards at the Victoria Hospital, however as part of your role you may be required to support OT activity across the hospital. The post requires an ability to travel throughout Fife for the delivery of equipment or follow up visits.

As a support worker you will assist the Occupational Therapy team in the delivery of a range of client-centered interventions which focus on a return to independence in activities of daily living to promote discharge from hospital.

These now well established posts support the provision of high quality patient care within the Emergency Department. It is aimed at clinicians 3 years post registration who wish to broaden their clinical experience and receive excellent training in Emergency Medicine. Senior clinical fellows will work alongside Specialty trainees in Emergency Medicine from the South East Scotland training rotation. Successful applicants will work at a middle grade level on a rota which provides 24 hour middle grade cover for the department under consultant supervision. The rota will include overnight and weekend work.

The post attracts 12 PAs of which 10 will be Direct Clinical Care and 2 will be for ongoing Continuing Professional Development. These PAs can be used flexibly for ongoing training and development. All senior clinical fellows will be allocated an educational supervisor to support them in their ongoing training and facilitate appropriate training opportunities tailored to the individual’s interests and training needs. Development and maintenance of a portfolio is encouraged.

Senior clinical fellows will be involved in the initial assessment and management of patients attending the emergency department, and in supervising and supporting FY2s and GPSTs in patient management. This will involve work in all areas of the department. There will be opportunities to develop experience of observational medicine under consultant supervision and to take part in Observation ward rounds.The department includes an 8 bay resuscitation area, a 9 bay majors area, a 6 bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated Procedures room and a 6 bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit which admits primarily toxicology and head injury patients. There is access to electronic pathology and radiology ordering. Departmental guidelines, protocols and rotas are on the departmental intranet web pages. We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target.

The Emergency Department has 24 hour senior doctor presence, (11 Consultant Emergency physicians 9.85 WTE) with current shop floor consultant presence daily from 0800 to 2300. We have 4 GPwSI who deliver regular sessions in evenings and at weekends. There are daily ENP sessions to help with the minors flow.

There is a co-located GP OOH service in the evenings and at weekends, allowing redirection of appropriate patients. A formal redirection policy is in operation.

There is a 24 hour ENP-led Minor Injuries Unit Located at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline which is clinically supported by the senior doctors in the Emergency Department.

Then our Newly Qualified Practitioner (NQP) Support Programme is for you:

NHS Fife offers this programme to all new nurses, midwives and allied health professions (including bank staff). The programme is hosted across three locations and is facilitated by nursing and midwifery Practice Education Facilitators and the AHP Practice Education Lead:

The 4 sessions offer you support and guidance as well as putting you in touch with other NQPs. Ideally practitioners will attend all 4 workshops and where possible in sequential order. The aims are:

o To support newly qualified nurses, midwives and AHPs recognise their responsibilities as a registered practitioner

o To prepare NQPs for their first Personal Development Plan (PDP)/Turas Appraisal and embed within their practice life-long learning

o Support in the completion of the Flying Start NHS programme within the first year of practice

What is Flying Start NHS?

Flying Start NHS is the national development programme for all newly qualified nurses, midwives and allied health professionals, to be undertaken in the first year of practice. It’s designed to help support the transition from pre-registered student to qualified, confident and capable health professional by supporting learning and development.

Every individual is responsible for registering, getting started and working through the programme within 12 months. Locally you will be allocated a Flying Start Facilitator, who will offer you support, feedback and guidance during your first year in practice.

The Practice is based within Kirkcaldy Health Centre and conveniently situated next to Victoria Hospital and Whyteman’s Brae Hospital. Our current list size is approximately 7300. The Practice is paper-light and uses Vision and Docman.

The Practice has 4 GP Partners, 1 salaried GP, 1 Associate Nurse Partner, 1 Specialist Practice Nurse, 1 Practice Nurse and a hard-working team of 12 admin staff. Muiredge surgery is a well-established practice situated on the Fife coast, 10 minutes’ drive from Kirkcaldy and approximately 30-35 minutes’ drive from Dundee and Edinburgh.

We are looking for an enthusiastic GP to join our friendly team. We have 7,500 patients approx. and 5 FTE GPs. (Currently 5 partners and 2 salaried GPs, all part-time i.e. less than 9 sessions, min 5 sessions, max 8.)

We have 6 sessions to offer, due to the relocation of one of our salaried GPs to a practice nearer home, and would prefer to offer a partnership but are happy to negotiate.
