THE ESSENTIALS OF CHRISTIAN COUNSELLING

Join author, psychologist, and minister, Dr. James Friesen, as he shares what he has learned during his 35 years as a psychologist. This unique, one-day seminar will bring together all of Jesus’ teachings, with a clear and simple approach to counselling, offering practical examples. Dr. Friesen wants to help you become more effective in assisting clients, family and friends.

To illustrate the incredible inner healing that God can work through counselling, Dr. Friesen will be joined by Kate White, a musician and ritual abuse survivor, who uses her gifts to help others find healing and wholeness.

9.00 - 10.15 am – Christian Counselling: The Basics

Having specialized in the teachings of Jesus for 35 years, for the first time he will present all of the Master’s teachings, and how they fit into a clear and simple framework for Christian Counselling. This presentation will bring together a comprehensive theological understanding with a comprehensive psychological approach. The ideas are practical, and the counselling is effective.

10.30 - 11.45 am – Christian Counselling: The Basics continued

This material does not come from textbooks. It comes from people who are in anguish – everything inside of them wants to feel better, but they have no idea how to make that happen. This is not a cognitive-behavioral approach, which misses working directly with feelings. People need to discover what happened to them, find God's healing for the wounds which emerge, tell their story, and pray for healing. We will learn about helping people with Dissociative Disorders and will find that what helps them is in fact, exactly what helps most people who seek counselling. It’s all about parts and wounds; it’s all about healing and joining.

12.45 - 2.00 pm – When This Approach Seems Insufficient

As Counsellors help people uncover wounds, they need to look for signs which suggest that more is needed. This will include identifying people with Borderline Personality, Bipolar Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and survivors of Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA).
