by Kent H Jorgensen If you were wondering about the newsletter, yes it

has been on hiatus for the past 2 months. Due to some extenuating circumstance it did not get into the mail, e or snail. But, it is back. It has a bit of a new look, and a commitment to be part of better communications with the membership.

As part of the commitment to communications is working with the website, the email blasts, the Facebook page, the text blasts, and any other way to keep the members informed about things that are going on which should be of concern to the membership.

One of the things that the newsletter needs are more contributions from the membership. Pictures, articles, and letters to the editor are all welcome.

The mission of the newsletter is to provide helpful

information to the members. It is difficult to keep the readers interest without content they want to read. One of the best places to get content is from the members themselves.

Send in an article about a problem that you were able to solve on a set. I an upcoming issue will be an article about the issue of plastic bottles waste and a company that has a possible solution for fixing it. Take a picture of the 80 crew on the truck or near a rig. Provide few paragraphs of the way you set up your first aid station. Write to the editor about changes you would like to see.

Keep Connected this Holiday Season with MPTF’s Daily Call Sheet

Who doesn’t benefit from a great conversation or a good laugh with a fellow industry member? The latest health research states that having strong social connections is as important and beneficial to over-all well-being than just about anything else you can do for yourself. Life’s stresses like changing jobs, retiring, or experiencing a health set back can sometimes make staying in touch with your fellow industry members more challenging.

With that in mind, The Motion Picture Television Fund (MPTF), known for their great legacy of “taking

care of our own” for nearly 100 years, created the ‘Daily Call Sheet’. The Daily Call Sheet, (DSC) is a new, fun, telephone based, social program that provides opportunities to increase social connections for industry members and industry volunteers.

In the less than 2 years since the program was launched, over 8,600 social calls have been made and close to 3,000 hours of conversations enjoyed between industry members! 260 members have already participated in this fun, free social connectivity program and we hope you’ll join us.

Highlights of Participating

• The Daily Call Sheet is very much like an alumni association, but its participants have much more in common

• Socializing enhances everyday mood and satisfaction with life

• By connecting with caring industry members, you can enjoy conversations with like-minded people, share industry insights, reminisce, or just chat about daily life

• There is NO FEE to receive calls

• The DCS is open to all industry members and their parents

• After a short training, volunteers can make calls from anywhere

• Keeping industry members healthy, engaged and connected is a priority for MPTF

There is no time like the holiday season to reach out and connect with fellow industry veterans who may enjoy a friendly call. If you would like to receive a call or become a volunteer please contact: Program Director, Maureen Feldman for more info: 818-876-1190 or [email protected] Please visit us at www.MPTF.com
