What Will They Look Like?

by Michael Mendez The Local is creating new Local 80 t-shirts. Along with the traditional shirts,

designs from the membership will be used. There will be a contest of designs submitted by the membership. Members will

vote on the designs, and the top vote getters will be reviewed and used for printing of the top designs.

A few local 80 members have already shown an interested in the idea. Some have already submitted designs (see below).

The submissions are “Local 80” designs. The submissions should not be craft themed, they should either say “Local 80” or include all crafts; Grips, Crafts Service, Medic and Marine on the shirt.

Information about the California Tax Credit program have been sent out to Local 80 members. The benefits of this program to the members, the industry, and the community should be obvious to everyone. A big reason for getting this program in

place is by the memberships asking their legislatures to support the program.

The not so obvious part is that members need to continue to be vigilant of the political process. At this time there are those that wish to destroy unions and make the lives of working people more difficult.

Coming up is the election season. There is a vote the first week of June. Take some time to look into the candidates and issues. Use the resources available to you and vote in your best interest.

On page 7 you will see the list of candidate that have been endorsed by the IATSE. These people have been scrutinized based on their records in supporting working families. Again, please take the time to do your own research and choose wo you want to represent you.
