The year 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, America’s first landing a man on the
Moon and safely returning to Earth. A few months later Apollo 12’s precision landing occurred
but not fully televised. Apollo 12 crew of Pete Conrad, Richard F. Gordon, and Alan Bean suc-
cessfully expanded our understanding of manned space flight, knowledge of the Moon, and en-
gineering capabilities.
Later Alan Bean became an artist who tried to express the human experience of the Moon like
no other person. His unique experience of actually traveling, landing, walking, and working on
the Moon was translated into his paintings. He often said it was difficult to capture the stark
reality of the Moon to others thru paintings.
The cover expresses looking to the past and looking to the future at same time.
We thank Apollo 12 for showing us all what is possible when we think about the future with
imagination and hard work.

China, and Asia in general should re think their global view as Africa creates new idea.

What’s an MBA?
NAIC 541611, 541613, 541618—Management, Scientific and Technical Consulting Services
What is a MBA?
A juris doctor (JD) is a professional degree, in the field of law.
A MBA stands for Master in Business Administration. The degree is
earned in colleges or school’s of business. Unlike a JD, work experience
is required before attending. Similar to a JD, MBA students can come
from a variety of undergraduate backgrounds prior to attending. Course
work includes in areas of knowledge: accounting, business, information
systems, economics, finance, management, marketing, operations, strat-
egy, and quantitative analysis. Courses are taught by faculty having PhDs.
Some students study specialized areas such as economics, taxation, and
marketing.
Like any formal study, it is a structured learning environment designed to
further a student’s understanding of specific disciplines and be able to ap-
ply in broader context. Individuals with these degrees are coveted in or-
ganizations that seek a high level of performance for their stakeholders
from customers, to employees, to shareholders, to communities.
MBA graduates are typically tasked with developing or running organza-
tions. For more information ask one of our consultants.

September 23, 2019 the world Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-49789073
Founded in 1841 and closed today, proves that just being around for over 177 years is no guarantee how you deliver services for the next 177 years or even the next year. People have been traveling since they got tired of their cave. But how they travel and their expectations are constantly changing. How did a company that was founded on democratizing travel find itself unable to survive as a business as the world had more technology tools around to make it easier to do? Did technology and low cost cheap airlines and hosting platforms put it out of business? For everyone in the events business, this business event should be a call for a meet-ing or event to delve deeper into how Thomas Cook’s current business model could not last or be profitable for the right owners. With travel booming globally everyone in events should wonder how this happened? Perhaps Thomas Cook’s management did not know what business it was in? Boeing once owned an airline but with anti trust concerns, Boeing became just a plane maker. Former CEO Phil Condit was known to say that the reason why Boeing did not own a company jet was that he wanted Boeing employees including senior management to actually experience what their customers experience; airlines moving people. Thomas Cook at various times owned airplanes and hotels, the capital intense physi-cal items that make travel possible. Yet much has be written about its brand or good-will as it closed. But nothing has been written about the social and human capital it had which left the extensive stores every day. Was Thomas Cook one of the world’s best places to be trained how to organize a travel event?
78
One of the attributed sources of decline in Tomas Cook’s revenue was people could do the same thing themselves. Anyone today who has had the wonderful experience of outsourced call centers of websites with thousands of hotel and airline lists would long for the days when you could ask your travel representative “I have a business meeting in Wayne, which hotel has style that fits me?” Do people really enjoy all that screen time on their phones used to scroll through thou-sands of pages and looking thru hundreds of strangers or hidden paid for reviews? Amazing that so many busy people looking for the cheapest travel experience have so much time? Maybe they enjoy this experience in digital marshes? After today anyone reading the glowing plans for growth as recently as 2017 should wonder “what business did Cook executives think they were in”? Here’s a starting point for everyone in the event’s business to consider: know what business you are in. Not every business is a tech business nor should it be. Success-ful companies should understand the technology that make good tools have to add value to the customer, not glossy pages on investors report. Technology should be used to solve problems; not create them. People should not have to be experts in cod-ing and algorithm development to run a system. Most importantly, relying on “good will” as hope for a business model is not sound as the collapse of 177 year Thomas Cook proves once again. We hope this insight gets you thinking. Work force development Issues
SOURCE: United States House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, & Technology, Subcommittee on Research and
Technology, Hearing on “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work”, September 24, 2019, Prepared Statement of Vice President
of Manpower Manufacturing, KR. Kowalski
Is higher education preparing workers for the future?
There has been a lot written that there is a huge disconnect by what is being taught in higher education and what the outside world is
demanding. Many are commenting that teaching skills that have and will become automated thru computers is simply a way to train
obsolescence into another generation of students. Automation is making possible computers to do much more and reduce the need
for humans to do certain things.
How will society increase human capital?
One way is to invest in developing skills such as: communication, collaboration, problem solving, organization, customer service,
leadership , and management. These are the skills that will not be automated in spite of much marketing hype. Leadership is one area
that is considered in the shortest supply across all industries and functional areas. It is also the least taught throughout education.
In Robert M. Gates’ book “A Passion for Leadership”, subtitled ‘Lessons on Change and Reform from Fifty Years of Public Ser-
vice”, the author makes it clear that any change in organization requires leadership courage which is rare. Every day a leader seeking
needed change has to be relentless in effective leadership. The leaders has to communicate why the change is needed and be open to
various ways to achieve the final outcome. Leaders never finish their leadership education but are constantly striving to achieve
what others merely think is not possible.
Chapter 3 “Formulating a Strategy” Gates describes his methods for implementing a strategy for change. Besides the metrics, and
steps, the focus is on how to get people to implement the change. This is where areas like communication are critical and obtaining
stakeholder buy in.
Points to consider:
What steps are required to make small changes?
How do you identify people who are ready for change?
What techniques are best tailored to educate your stakeholders about the change?
How do you translate your vision into actionable steps?
How do you educate an entire organization that change is needed?
When is it time to replace the people rather than educate?

Where does innovation come from?
Source: “Final Report of the Recording Academy Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion”; December 12, 2019
Since CRXJEM”s launch of its CLE on diversity (exclusive to CRXJEM’s Professional Development Department), attorney’s have
wondered why diversity is key to innovation in society. A place to start is the music industry which has ac-
cepted it needs to change since world has changed since 1952.
Women lawyers could look particularly about the task force observations why women are under represented in
the music industry and compare to their own profession . Few understand formal coaching and mentoring as
opposed to managing. When looking for someone to mentor, look at their style as in do they just answer their
own questions or to they explore how you can to your answers. Mentors don’t always prove answers but are
about developing your own way of analyzing a situation and provide meaningful discussions.
https://www.grammy.com/sites/com/files/final_task_force_report.pdf
Innovation does not come from the same people thinking the same thing over and over again. It can be the same
person thinking of a problem differently or a person asking a new question. Too often new questions are re-
framed to fit old answers. When diverse teams work together they provide a broader framework to look at prob-
lems and finding solutions. Some people need to drop their old favorite tools and re skill themselves up to better
tools.
For the future, ask about our diversity CLE and why we think it’s timely.

Has technology really changed?
Or has incremental changes and use of withered technology really hit the limits to solve problems?

Technology areas in bio are making their way slowly thru the development stage.
The cost of launch to space has been dramatically driven down and micro sats are making LEO accessable to faction of previous
costs. That means that farmers now can receive real time information over any part of the globe at 3.7 meter resolution and 72 centi-

Tiny lenses are in the process of being developed at lower cost and diagnostic applications.
Corrison has been the bane of man’s existent in engineering, with last years Italian bridge failure bringing to light the reality that
engineering has a long way to go before the science of corrosion is understood.
As computer chips reach the limits of Moore’s law (we are told turn the page), how will computer architecture have to change from

economic-progress
Have economists and policy makers failed us by only measuring Gross Domestic Product (GDP)?
At the World Economic Forum and other conferences, some are wondering.
As the world moves away from post industrialization, when mass production of the same product has its limits, some are wondering
out loud if GDP is the correct measure of progress. Technology can be driving every increasing efficiency but non technology ex-
perts do not realize there are limits to efficiency that cannot be broken.
Many call the 4th industrial revolution as the next wave for people to change their view of the world. In this world data is the new
oil .

Corporate Governance from President—Stakeholders and Business Roundtable—earthquake
Source: https://www.businessroundtable.org/business-roundtable-redefines-the-purpose-of-a-corporation-to-promote-an-economy-
that-serves-all-americans
On August 19, 2019 the business world was rocked by the statement posted from the Business Roundtable that not just shareholders
should be consider in making corporate decisions. As MBA students learn in business ethics, and strategy, all stakeholders matter.
Profit versus purpose driven organizations have come into conflict during capitalism’s development. But has maturity reached the
plateau where expenses can be shift to maximized profit for one group of stakeholders?
In “The Future of Capitalism” by Paul Collier, the author returns to Adam Smith’s writings, not Wealth of Nation’s alone, but his
earlier works on morality and economic activity. Why so few economists look at more of Smith’s works? Perhaps that’ requires
thinking.
How does Collier’s new book in US paper back impact business leaders thinking on stakeholders?
How will lawyers react to changes in corporate decision making?
