PARISH REGISTRATION

Please remember, children are considered members with their parents until they turn 18 years old. Once they are 18, it is their responsibility to attend church and to register as a member inde-pendent of their parents. What a great way to honor their 18th birthday! This is very important when they want to schedule a wedding where registration is required for the bride or groom (and not the parents!)

Please consider helping our parish continue to assist our NEIGH-BORS IN NEED by putting money in our poor pipe in the back of the Church, dropping it in the collection basket earmarked “neighbors in need” or bringing it to the Church Office. Your donations go into a fund to purchase bus passes, buy supplies used for our Snack Bag project and help with other needs that come to Father Je-rabek’s attention. WE ARE ALWAYS SO APPRECIATIVE OF YOUR SUPPORT AND GRATEFUL FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!

GLORIA, READINGS, AND CREED • SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

GLORIA Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

FIRST READING Acts 8:5-8, 14-17 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed the Christ to them. With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip when they heard it and saw the signs he was doing. For unclean spirits, crying out in a loud voice, came out of many possessed people, and many paralyzed or crippled people were cured. There was great joy in that city. Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit, for it had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (5:00PM, 7:15am, and 8:30AM) From Psalm 66 Verse: Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.

SECOND READING 1 Peter 3:15-18 Beloved: Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence, keeping your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who defame your good conduct in Christ may themselves be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that be the will of God, than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the sake of the unrighteous, that he might lead you to God. Put to death in the flesh, he was brought to life in the Spirit.

GOSPEL John 14:15-21 Jesus said to his disciples: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows him. But you know him, because he remains with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”

CREED I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, [bow] and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

GREGORIAN PROPERS SUNG BY THE CHOIR AT THE 11:00AM MASS (Please do not join in the singing; thank you!)

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON Vocem iucunditatis Cf. Isaiah 48:20 Vocem iucunditátis annuntiáte, et audiátur, allelúia: annuntiáte usque ad extrémum terræ: liberávit Dóminus pópulum suum, allelúia, allelúia. Declare it with the voice of joy: make this to be heard, alleluia: and speak it even to the ends of the earth. The Lord hath redeemed his people, alle-luia, alleluia.

ALLELUIA I (in place of the Responsorial Psalm at 11:00am) Alleluia, Alleluia. Surrexit Christus, et illuxit nobis, quos redemit sanguine suo. Alleluia, Alleluia. Christ is risen and has shone upon us, whom he ransomed with his blood.

ALLELUIA II (before the Gospel) Cf. John 14:18,28; 16:22 Alleluia, Alleluia. Non vos relinquam orphanos: vado, et venio ad vos, et gaudebit cor vestrum. Alleluia, Alleluia. I will not leave you orphans: I go, and will come to you, and your hearts will rejoice.

All peoples, bless our God; let the voice of his praise resound, of the God who gave life to our souls and kept our feet from stumbling. Blest be God, who did not reject my prayer, nor withhold from me his merciful love.

COMMUNION ANTIPHON Non vos relinquam orphanos Cf. John 14:18,28; 16:22 (Same text as Alleluia II, above.)
