Dear Parents and Carers, All classes are settled and thriving. We have had many comments about how wonderful the start of the year has been. Kindergarten students have been very impressive in how well they are fitting into the school routine. Much of this is thanks to parents and teachers working together to ensure a smooth transition to school. The Year 6 Boys and Girls classes have also been very impressive in how they are diving deep into their work and genuinely engaging with tasks. In comparison to the same time last year, we have had a 98% decrease in behaviour issues for this grade. We appreciate the support from families, and while we know that some concerns will arise at some point, it has been a really positive start. Well done to the Year 6 teachers as well for their approach, hard work and dedication. Complaints Handling If needing to discuss a school issue, there is a process we ask families to follow. Most of the time, these can be resolved with a quick chat to the classroom teacher. If you then feel the matter has not been resolved, we ask that you arrange to speak to the Assistant Principal for that grade which may include the classroom teacher being present. If still unresolved, I (as the Principal) will investigate, or delegate to the appropriate person, the matter further looking at all evidence collected. We ask all families to follow this process to ensure matters can be resolved fairly. Please avoid complaining about issues on Facebook/Social media as this is considered inappropriate and often misinformed. New Policy/Guidelines EBPS has developed a new Awards Policy and Social Media Guidelines. This has been ratified by the P&C at the last meeting. These will be found on the school’s webpage very soon. Change to Term 2 School Development Day This is to inform families that, working in consultation with the P&C, the Term 2 SDD has been moved to the last day of this term (Thursday, April 9th). This means students will NOT attend school on this date but WILL attend on Monday, 27th April. This is to work in line with the school’s professional learning booked in with Point Clare PS for Visible Learning. The last day of school for students this term will be Wednesday, 8th April. Parent Parking/ Pickup and Drop Off The staff and I do appreciate that morning and afternoon routines can be quite hectic at times in regards to parking. Student safety is paramount to our school and I would like to remind all families that the staff car park is out of bounds for all students. This may be used up to 7.30am for families dropping children off at BayCare, but after this time, no children should be in the carpark. Parents are expected to park in marked areas or use the ‘kiss-and-drop’ area for a quick turnaround. Please be mindful of the impact these practices have upon the broader community. I appreciate everyone’s cooperation with these important road safety matters.

What’s New? A Council Inspection was conducted found our canteen compliant in all areas. We are very proud of our canteen and
our hardworking, dedicated staff and volunteers. Well done!
The menu has been freshened up with updated prices and some subtle changes to products on offer. Check it out on
Flexischools.
Following a trial during the last term of 2019 we found that opening the canteen during recess on Friday’s was not
viable. We are unable to continue a recess service this year. Please enjoy all the canteen has to offer during lunch 1.
Volunteers are legends! We can’t provide the high standard of service without the generous help of our volunteers. You guys are amazing
and we can’t thank you enough.
Pop in to the canteen after dropping the kids and make some frozen milk snacks, fill the drink fridge or pie warmers to
help our busy staff. If you can spare a little more time then consider volunteering for a 3 hour shift 9 – 12 any day of the
week.
Use our online roster at https://signup.zone/ebps-canteen-roster You’ll be looked after for your trouble.
**Please wear enclosed shoes**

Calling for Volunteers —School Banking —We need your help in 2020.
P&C NEWS
TERM 1 WEEK 4 21 February 2020
Our students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program and to keep this program running we need your help. The program requires a volunteer School Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate the banking and distribution of School Banking rewards. This only takes a small amount of your time one day a week and the Commonwealth Bank will provide support in how to run the program. Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with fundraising. School Banking day is Tuesday, with our volunteer helpers working in teams of 2. If you are interested in volunteering for this great program, please call or come into the office for more details. SCHOOL BANKING HAS COMMENCED AND YOUR HELP IS NEEDED.
Our school will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on Tuesday 24th March at 7.00pm in the school hall and all parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend.
ThinkUKnow Australia is a cyber safety education program that educates parents, carers and teachers of how people are using technology, the challenges they may face online, and how to help them overcome these in a safe and ethical way.
ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Com-monwealth Bank. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbour-hood Watch Australasia. The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presenta-tion covers issues relating to children and young peoples’ privacy and security online, their relationships with other users and their online reputation. It provides insight into the devices young people are using, as well as the popular websites, apps and social networking sites they’re accessing.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.
Thank you
Jo Lane
We had our first P&C meeting for the year on Tuesday and were happy to see many returning and new members. If you're interested in finding out what is happening at our school please attend a P&C meeting to hear first hand from our Principal and P&C team.
How do you become a member? To join you need to attend a P&C meeting and pay the $1 membership fee. Meetings are held twice a term with one in the day and one in the evening. Our meetings are advertised in the school Newsletter, on the School App and Facebook page.
Our next meeting: Tuesday 17th March, 7pm in the School Admin Building
Just One Thing A note has recently been sent home where you can volunteer to do just one thing (or more) at our school during the year. With so many families at our school we can achieve a lot for our students if everyone does just one thing. Please complete your form and return to school at your earliest convenience.

TERM 1 WEEK 4 21 February 2020
Parents, please be considerate and polite to our neighbours by NOT parking over their driveways or on the
grassed areas in front of their properties. Reversing cars on the grassed areas is dangerous to all students
walking to cars. We encourage you to use the kiss and drop zone for a safe pickup of students. Car name
labels are available through the office to place in vehicles to help recognise students families. The traffic is
usually cleared within 12 –15 minutes after the bell.
