The balance between power and subtlety is sublime throughout this new album.

“’Permanent Revolution’ is one of my favourite songs on the album because of how it’s built around a simple idea,” Chris Alexander, vocalist and guitarist from the band explains. “We chose to make a video for this track because of its impact and we felt the concept would transfer visually as well. It’s definitely a favourite of ours to play live!” Check out the video above.

NEWS: Panic! at the disco stream new songNew song Death Of A Bachelor has been premiered by Panic! At The Disco exclusively on Beats 1 Apple Radio. Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz presented the show, filling in for Zane Lowe. Frontman Brendon Urie explained before the premiere that the track was his favourite from the new as-yet-untitled album and that it was a mix between Beyoncé and Frank Sinatra.

Urie said on the band’s Facebook page of Death Of A Bachelor: “Frank Sinatra turns 100 this year. I attach his music to so many memories: Opening presents on Christmas day, my grand-parents teaching the rest of the family to swing dance, watching “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” with my siblings (Sinatra makes a cameo in the form of a cartoon sword singing “Witchcraft”). His music has been a major player in the soundtrack of my life. So it’s only right that I return the favor and/or pay it forward.

“I wrote a new album this year and even in the few songs that don’t sound remotely similar to any of his music I still felt his influence in the writing and the need to relate so personally to each song.

“Death Of A Bachelor is very important to me. It expresses the bittersweet (but mostly sweet) end of an era. A look back at a part of my life now deceased. An “It’s A Wonderful Life”-esque look into a possibly different future. But mostly an appreciation for the present.”

NEWS: ARE BLINK 182 IN THE STUDIO?Mark Hoppus has excited Blink-182 fans with a tweet saying that he’s in the studio.

This was in response-tweet to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz who asked when new mu-sic was coming. It would make sense that Matt Skiba would also be in the studio with him making some new tunes, but according to his Instagram page, he is playing with a new toy elsewhere.

NEWS: one direction rap fresh prince theme on stage in philiOne Direction have made a complete faux pas in Philadelphia where they thought it was somehow acceptable to rap the theme from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Even after the spontaneous outburst, they admitted that they should have practiced beforehand but in all honesty, that wouldn’t have made it any better or entertaining.

Of course, their adoring fans went mental over it but to everyone else, it was just embarrassing. One (direction) does not simply cover a classic rap like that.1D recently announced that they are breaking up in March after a serious of concerts. It really does make you question how they got so big in the first place for people to actually care that this is happening. They say that they’re taking to break because they are tired after five years of being together. What a shame. How the mu-sic industry will recover from such devastating news is questionable. The chances of this being an elaborate publicity stunt and they will actually reform within the next year or two is very high, unsurprisingly. Click the image to watch the video.

NEWS: slipknot launch their own haunted house theme parkSlipknot have made a rather different announcement. They are launching their own haunted house theme park attrac-tion, or Scream Park as they are calling it.

It will be in Sacramento, California from the 2nd of October until the 1st of November, just in time for Halloween. It will feature “three outrageous haunted houses and live horror entertainment”.

The announcement was made on a YouTube video and band member Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan has described it as “ab-solutely sickening’.

Check out the announcement video and trailer for the park by clicking the image above.

NEWS: tom delonge wants Blink 182 to be part of his lifeFormer Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge has said that he still wants the band to be part of his life, despite quitting earlier in the year. He told NME that he needs time to focus of other projects including solo material, his band Angels and Airwaves, novels and a live action film.

Talking to NME, he said: “I loved that band, I started that band. That’s me. I named the band - that shit came from me. [Being in

Blink] cannot be the only thing in my life, or can it be the absolute priority. But can it be a part of my life? Ab-solutely. I love that band. I could not do anything that I’m doing now without the fans of that band. If I did not have the fans of Blink, I would not exist.”

Angels & Airwaves EP ‘…Of Nightmares’ will be released by DeLonge on September the 4th and the accompa-nying novel Poet Anderson… Of Nightmares on October the 6th. This is said to be the first of a planned trilogy.

NEWS: nicholas hoult will play the lead in j.d. salinger biopicNicholas Hoult has been announced to play author J.D. Salinger in new biopic Rebel In The Rye. This is the film adaptation of JD Salinger: A Life, the biography by author Kenneth Slawenski. It will show the story behind Salinger’s seminal novel, A Catcher In The Rye.

The story will take in his rebellious youth, his time in the Military Service during WW2, his brief marriage to Sylvia Welter and his crippling PTSD that affected his writing for

years.

No start or release date have been announced at this stage but it will be screenwriter Danny Strong’s direc-torial debut and he will be adapting the screenplay from Slawenski’s source material.

Film preview: me and earl and the undying girlBased on the debut novel of the same name by Jesse Andrews, the film follows a touching story of how a social misfit becomes friends with a girl who has leukaemia and is dying. After the two are forced together, they find that they actually enjoy spending time together and Greg (Thomas Mann) introduces Rachel (Olivia Cooke) to his childhood friend and work partner, Earl (Ronald Cyler II). Greg and Earl make films parodying different famous films and decide to show them to Rachel, and eventually deciding to make a film for her. The film looks at how that develops and how it affects his relationship with her.

This film looks to be heart-warming and amusing, as well as thought provoking. What more could you want in a movie? The heavy subject matter is softened by the mild-mannered humour and childish innocence of the actors.

It seems to be along the same lines as The Fault In Our Stars but without the wishy-washy romance and with added comedy.

The film got a standing ovation at the Sundance Film Awards earlier this year so it’s definitely something to look out for. It won’t be a laugh a minute but it should be enjoyable and potentially make you shed a tear. It’s also stylistically pleasing and simple in its approach.

NEWS: eddie redmayne stars in new trailer for the danish girlEddie Redmayne looks set to win another Oscar with his portrayal of the first ever person to get gender reassign-ment surgery, artist Einer Wegener. The first trailer has been released and the film follows the journey Wegener took to become Lili Eibe and takes an in depth look into the relationship with her wife Gerba, played by Alicia Vikander.

Based on the novel by Tom Eiberhart, this true story biop-ic looks beautiful and eye opening, helping to change the face of gender norms.

Check out the trailer by clicking the image on the right.

Film preview: american ultraMike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg) is from a small town in America and spends the majority of his time getting high and writing a graphic novel about a superhero monkey. Turns out, he’s a sleeper agent, trained by the CIA to be a lethal killer. The agency targets him for termination but his former handler wakes up the killer instincts in his subconscious, turning him from a lazy stoner into a weapon of mass destruction. Now, Mike has to use his new (and confusing) talents to use to save him and his girlfriend (Kristen Stewart) from getting killed.

The premise of the film lies on the promise of action mixed comedy, but it will be hard to pull off effectively without it being mind-numbingly cliché. It also begs the question of whether Kristen Stewart will give her classic ‘cardboard’ acting or actually give the character some form of emotion. It seems it could go one of two ways: It will either be mildly hilarious but packed with action, or cringe inducing and a complete flop.

The trailer gives the impression of an exciting film filled with explosions, stoners and CIA agents which is an almighty combination but there is the risk that it will be like every other stoner movie with stupid stereotypes and Kristen Stewart having less emotion than a potato.

Watch the trailer above and make your own mind up.

the lucid experiment:Shes my melodyIt’s very easy to get into the groove of the track and special credit has to be given to the extreme-ly dynamic bassline that underscores majority of the song. Towards the middle and end it morphs from a saharan sunset roadtrip track to an increasingly psyche-delic experience, before ending with a comfort-able descent back from outer space.

Crisis Warning don’t live up to their name, the production really giving them a slick recording of a great punk track – a song we suspect would work excellently live, with some good break-downs and guitar work that would go down well with a good crowd.

STORMCHASERS: TAKEN BY THE TIDE

crisis warning-I bet we had a better time than you

Taking influence from the 50s to the present day, they create a fresh, familiar sound. Based in Bexhill, the five piece formed in January 2014, but have recently changed drummers, introducing Mark Arnell, their newest member.

Taken By The Tide is one of the bands most recent releases, with an atmo-spheric wave crashing that makes for an exciting opening to the song. Even though the track is over six minutes long, the blues rock style makes for easy listening and sends you sailing off a journey that makes time cease to exist.
