HistoryHistoryThe American Academy Larnaca is one of the nine oldest schools on the island. It was founded in1908 by Rev. Walter McCarroll and Mrs McCarroll, two missionaries of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. The purpose of the School was to provide Christian education and training, implying not only academic training but also a Christian way of living; building character and conduct.

It was originally intended as an all boys’ school, but in 1916 a department for girls opened which was discontinued in 1919. It was reopened in 1933.
