The Family Resource Network is a group of consumers and agencies who work together to better meet
the needs of children and families in Roane County by creating a network of partnerships that have thecapacity to ensure that services work and the needs of every family are met.
The FRN seeks to promote outcomes such as: Safe communities Stable homes Strong families Healthy people
Early childhood development A skilled workforce
The FRN improves services for children and families by: Assessing community needs and resources
Developing and implementing plans to make Roane County a better place Coordinating existing services Increasing public awareness
Mobilizing the community to deal with local issues Evaluating the results of their efforts
The FRN works on issues identified as priorities for their community,

They base their work on the proven idea that care is enhancedwhen people are able to go about their lives with the smallest amount of disruption from treatment.Outcomes and economics prove the effectiveness and efficiency of community-based care.They have found that tailoring their organization to their clients needs meant having groups that

SUICIDE PREVENTION
Suicide is any self-inflicted act that ends in death. In the US 12 out of every 100,000 people will die fromsuicide every year. If a person is depressed he/she is more likely to commit suicide than a content person.Also people that are widowed, divorced, socially isolated, and someone who has experienced a recenttraumatic loss is more likely to commit suicide. Suicide usually happens in older adults. Women aremore likely to have unsuccessful attempt at suicide than men.Suicide Warning Signs
A sudden decrease or increase in eating or sleeping habits Depression Withdrawal from friends, family and regular activities Unexplained or unusual rebellion or disruptive behavior Drug and/or alcohol use Unusual neglect of personal appearance
Know the Warning Signs Be a friend Listen and let the person know you care Try to convince the person to get help Let a responsible adult know your concern Get help from a minister, teacher, or professional DO NOT leave the individual alone if an immediate threat is apparent Radical personality change Persistent boredom, difficulty concentrating, or remembering Frequent complaints about physical symptoms, often related to emotions, such as stomachaches,
headaches, fatigue, etc.... Loss of interest in pleasurable activities Violent actions, rebellious behavior or running away Letters, notes, and journals about hopelessness/death Giving verbal hints Expressing suicidal thoughts, even in a joking manner Putting affairs in order-for example giving away favorite possessions or throwing away important
belongings Becoming suddenly cheerful after a period of depression
Keep these thoughts in mind:OTHERS DO CARE - There are always people who are willing to help you work out your problems.Dont be afraid to ask for help.YOU ARE NOT ALONE - Nearly everyone thinks about committing suicide at one time or another.THE CRISIS WILL PASSThis period in life is only temporaryDONT BE EMBARRASSED - Theres no need to feel ashamed about what youve been thinking.
