Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from Kolkata, the City of Joy!

We are pleased to announce that this winter The 11th Annual National Conference of Indian

Society for Rational Pharmacotherapeutics, 2019 (ISRPTCon2019) shall be held during 29-30

November, 2019 at Science City Auditorium, Kolkata, on the Theme, “Aligning

Pharmacology Knowledge and Expertise in Therapeutics Ensures Better Patient

Outcomes”. Faculty and Scholars of Department of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology,

School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata feel privileged to host this prestigious event. Four Pre-

Conference Workshops are also planned on 27th and 28th November 2019, on areas like

undergraduate/postgraduate pharmacology curriculum (MCI), rational use of medicines, research

methods including biostatistics, ethics and publication issues, and toxicology and analytical

pharmacology.

School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata, an institute par excellence, and unique of its kind in

Asia, was established in 1921 to foster care and research in tropical diseases. The corridors of

this prestigious, heritage institute had regular footfall of eminent researchers like Leonard

Rogers, Ronald Ross, R Knowels, U N Brahmachari, R N Chopra, J B Chatterjee and many

others. The foundation stone was laid by the Governor Lord Carmichael in the year 1914 on 24th

February at the initiative of Sir Leonard Rogers. Emphasis on specialized education, training and

capacity building has been added to the mission in due course. The researchers and the faculty of

this institute, committed to the cause of serving the ailing mankind, continue to carry the legacy

with utmost devotion.

Indian Society for Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT) was founded in New Delhi in

2007 by a group of about 20 pharmacologists with aims and objects as hereunder:

- to foster and disseminate the science of drug research and its rational use

- for advancement of clinical pharmacology in the country

- to develop and suggest contemporary changes in curriculum and syllabus for medical

undergraduate and postgraduate students in pharmacology

- to provide expertise for conducting and monitoring clinical trials in India

- to foster the culture of pharmacovigilance in the country

- to empower the patients / public in safe use of drugs/medicines (patient advocacy)

The Conference shall accommodate plenary sessions, invited lectures, symposia, free and

competitive oral and poster presentations. The Organizing Committee is gratified to have a line-

up of highly renowned resource persons who shall shed light on the issues around the

Conference Theme. We hope this Conference will offer participants the right platform to

exchange ideas, discover novel opportunities, reacquaint with colleagues, meet new friends and

broaden knowledge.
