NT NEWS. 7 One reader says the new Commodore is far less fuel-efficient than the VY Series II Commodore (pictured) correctly, and Mitsubishi must address the problem to ensure they do work as they’re designed to do. Ask the dealer for a full report on what the problem is and how they intend to fix it. Most im- portantly ask them for a timetable of when it will be fixed, and request a letter from Mitsubishi stating that your car is safe to drive in the meantime. If they won’t provide you with that letter, demand a replacement car to drive until they have fixed yours. Q: I once had a Hyundai Elantra with sub-standard radio reception like your readers are saying. My last vehicle was a Mitsubishi 380 with the radio aerial in the glass in the back screen and the radio reception in that was also terrible. The dealer replaced the wiring and the radio, but to no avail. The car had been tinted at a local tint shop, and when I went to them to see them if the metal in the tint composition could be at fault they cut a very thin line across the screen that separated the tint and all problems solved. Robert Vickers, e-mail. A: From the number of complaints we have received about the radio reception in Hyundais it does seem it is below par. But at the same time it’s worth noting that other things can influence the reception, like you say your window tint was, so it’s worth checking for other cau- ses, and not simply blaming the radio. Q: I have found the re- ports on the oil usage of the Commodore V6 interesting as I am experiencing the same issue on my 2011 Series 2 SV6. I’ve recently had what was supposedly a new motor fitted due to a high excessive oil con- sumption after eight long months of battling with Holden and telling them that there was a issue. I had to write in because the motor that was fitted wasn’t a brand new one like Holden told me, in fact they just changed the en- gine block. Much to my dis- satisfaction they never ac- tually fixed the issue. I could say that it seems that there may be a few issues with this motor that Holden are not aware of and I’m fighting to have my money refunded to me. This is not what I paid for. My advice to others is to take the fight to Holden be- cause there are lots of oth- ers in the same situation. Brendan, e-mail. A: It does seem to be that there is a problem with high oil usage with the Alloytec V6 in the Commodore, and you have to wonder if it’s be- ing addressed. We’d be inter- ested in hearing from others with the same issue.
