One reader says the new Commodore is far less fuel-efficient than the VY Series II Commodore (pictured)

correctly, and Mitsubishimust address the problem toensure they do work asthey’re designed to do. Askthe dealer for a full report onwhat the problem is and howthey intend to fix it. Most im-portantly ask them for a

timetable of when it will befixed, and request a letterfrom Mitsubishi stating thatyour car is safe to drive inthe meantime.

If they won’t provide youwith that letter, demand areplacement car to drive

until they have fixed yours.Q: I once had a Hyundai

Elantra with sub-standardradio reception like yourreaders are saying. My lastvehicle was a Mitsubishi380 with the radio aerial inthe glass in the back screen

and the radio reception inthat was also terrible. Thedealer replaced the wiringand the radio, but to noavail. The car had beentinted at a local tint shop, and when I went to them tosee them if the metal in the

tint composition could beat fault they cut a very thinline across the screen thatseparated the tint and allproblems solved.

Robert Vickers, e-mail.A: From the number of

complaints we have received

about the radio reception inHyundais it does seem it isbelow par. But at the sametime it’s worth noting thatother things can influencethe reception, like you sayyour window tint was, so it’sworth checking for other cau-ses, and not simply blamingthe radio.

Q: I have found the re-ports on the oil usage of theCommodore V6 interestingas I am experiencing thesame issue on my 2011Series 2 SV6. I’ve recentlyhad what was supposedly anew motor fitted due to ahigh excessive oil con-sumption after eight longmonths of battling withHolden and telling themthat there was a issue. Ihad to write in because themotor that was fittedwasn’t a brand new onelike Holden told me, in factthey just changed the en-gine block. Much to my dis-satisfaction they never ac-tually fixed the issue. Icould say that it seems thatthere may be a few issueswith this motor thatHolden are not aware ofand I’m fighting to havemy money refunded to me.This is not what I paid for.My advice to others is totake the fight to Holden be-cause there are lots of oth-ers in the same situation.

Brendan, e-mail.A: It does seem to be that

there is a problem with highoil usage with the AlloytecV6 in the Commodore, andyou have to wonder if it’s be-ing addressed. We’d be inter-ested in hearing from otherswith the same issue.
