Welcoming Year 7 for 2012
Fun and Sophistication at Year 10 Formal
Excellence in NSW School Certificate
One of Wauchope High School‟s students gained maximum
marks in Geography (100%). In the six School Certificate
examinations Sarah Houseman sat for, she received marks
of 100, 99, 97, 96, 96 and 95 percent, as well as obtaining
straight A‟s for all her subjects.
Mr Starr from the Science staff, show a new 2012 Year 7
group how to inspect zucchini plants for pests . The students
were part of Orientation day where students have come from
Wauchope High‟s feeder schools. (Wauchope Primary, Long
Flat, Byabarra, Beechwood and Huntington Public Schools) .
The students partook in lessons of Science, English, Drama,
Art, Agriculture and TAS.
An end of an era, Year 10 completed
the final NSW School Certificate year.
The students had a great time with
even some staff joining in to dance the
night away (see page 7).
Congrats!
WHS OUTSTANDING
STUDENT AND
ACHIEVER OF THE
YEAR GAINS ATAR OF
99.75
Congrats!
Leading the WHS Year 12
cohort‟s HSC results, like
many other students, Anna
was happy with her marks.
With marks such as 99% in
Ancient History where she
came 8th in the state, 98% in
Legal Studies coming 6th in
the state, and a maximum
marks for English Extension 2
(coming 6th in NSW, these
helped her achieve this
excellent . Anna is included in
the HSC Merit List and the
HSC All Rounders who are
students with 10 or more units
in band 6. A number of other
students followed with sound
ATARs, and we had an
excellent level of success in
early entrance to universities
(see page 2).

SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES IN HSC
LEAD TO FOCUSED FUTURES While a number of the 2011 HSC cohort from Wauchope High
are away from the area and have not reported into the school
yet, the Wauchope group were generally happy with their
marks and ATARs.
Other students who gained high ATARs included Caltex All
Rounder Trent , Talya , Elizabeth and April .
With an excellent rate of early entrance offers to University
New England, Charles Sturt and Southern Cross Universities,
the Wauchope Year 12 group have their focus on some varied
and substantial careers.
Talya (right) was
also happy with
her results with a
band 6 in Legal
Studies and three
band 5s. She is
thinking of
looking at Event
Management,
with Anna (left)
looking at Law.

THANKS TO WHS CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS!
(Thank goodness there is someone to serve us!!)
I would like to praise and recognise the efforts of a dedicated group of
volunteers that we are fortunate enough to have at the Wauchope
High School Canteen. These special volunteers are Dale Copland,
Elizabeth Smith, Trish Craig, Mel Sims, Corrie Harris, Carol
Tipping, Helen Haigh, Amanda Thomas, Julie Lindsay,
Penny Treacy, Donna Lloyd , Colleen Wade, Linda Long,
Ruth Williams, Kerrie Pead, Kerry Williams, Mary Reynolds
, Lyn Williams and Janet Schmitzer.
The quantity is small but quality is high. Each day in the canteen these
volunteers arrive with big smiles and willing hands, donating their time
and efforts to the school. Many of them travel great distances, some
are able to help only a couple of times a term, other‟s help fortnightly
but all know that their contribution is not only greatly needed but also
very welcomed and appreciated. Each end of year the P&C usually
take these wonderful people out as a thankyou. However, this year is
different. Once the ladies heard of what has happened to Rosie
Attard and her terrible accident it was immediately decided that
we would donate this money to Rosie in leiu of this outing. As mothers and grandmothers our hearts go out to Rosie and her family
and we feel we cannot justify spending this money on a night out and
that this money will be much more beneficial to them at this time.
However it would be remiss of me if I did not take the time to say
thankyou to all and express our gratitude once again.
