PRINCIPALS REPORT Fathers Day Stall The PNPS P & C is committed to helping our school. Thank you to our supportive committee and wonderful volunteers who helped make the Fathers Day stall such a success.
SAS Recognition Week @ PNPS This week is SAS (school and support staff) recognition week and an important time to show our appreciation to these exceptional staff members who constantly go above and beyond to support staff, students and our PNPS community members. We are thankful for the support of five dynamic staff members. These people include: Ms Debbie Jones, Miss Vui Nguyen, Mrs Pallavi Mehta, Mr Mark Ohyrnowsky and Mrs Catherine Bailey. I know how much you are appreciated by our families as whether it is providing support to our students, maintaining our large gardens and grounds or managing the front office and responding to many enquiries we couldnt possibly to it without you!. Please join with me in congratulating our magnificent team. Our school operates smoothly due to your incredible efforts.
Book Character Parade & Literature on the Lawn Our school community came together on 22 August to celebrate Book Week. Students, staff and pre-schoolers 'Escaped To Everywhere' showcasing their fantastic costumes. Literature on the Lawn and a picnic morning tea with friends and family made for a perfect day.

The Great Aussie Bush Camp Stage 3 Experience Stage 3 students had Way Too Much Fun at the Great Aussie Bush Camp as they experienced challenging activities instilling confidence and promoting teamwork. 61 exhausted but elated students returned safely on Friday afternoon. I was fortunate to spend an afternoon and evening with the students. The meal was delicious and the gathering around the camp fire provided for an authentic camping experience. The students impressed me with their dance moves and knowledge of all the hits during the disco. I would like to congratulate all students for their exemplary behaviour and enthusiasm demonstrated at camp. This opportunity would not have been possible without the supervising staff members and I know you will join with me in thanking Mr Wheatley, Miss Young, Mr Burrough and Mrs Bailey for making the 2017 Stage 3 camp an unforgettable experience.
Celebrating the Arts Tickets on sale now! To avoid disappointment, please purchase your tickets early as they always sell quickly. The students have been rehearsing for several months and this is always a spectacular evening. Our choir, senior and junior dance group as well as our drumming group will be performing at Riverside Theatres on Monday, 11 September. This year we have a few students who were selected to perform in a Parramatta Learning Community Dance Troupe. These students will be performing on Tuesday, 12 September. Please check your notes carefully for details from the coordinators. Theatre tickets can be purchased directly from Riverside Theatre in person or by phone on 8839 3399.
School Planning for 2018-2020 Parent Surveys/ Parent Morning Tea/Information Session and P&C Meeting The staff and community at PNPS are currently in the process of planning for the next three years. You are invited to a community forum to be held in the library on Thursday, 14 September commencing at 9:15am. You will be provided with an opportunity to provide input into this process. We welcome all ideas and look forward to your participation. In addition to the forum, I am sending home a parent survey. Each year we ask parents and carers to share their opinions on different aspects of school life and to identify areas they believe are important to focus on for the future. This year the survey will be conducted online. I will also send home a paper survey but I ask that you select only one of these options. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. This is open today and can be accessed by clicking on the link below. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8ZYH2ZK Seussical the Musical That was the best show ever! Chloe and Lilian declared. There were lots of colourful performers and they wore very bright costumes, make up and glitter. The band was loud, the music was fantastic and we were seated in front of the band pit. We got to watch them play the instruments. The story was exciting and some parts were sad. We got to take a photo with Cat in the Hat. They performed cartwheels and back flips. It was really, really exciting!

Mr Wheatley and Mrs Bax reported excellent conduct and sportsmanship displayed by our students who were proud PNPS representatives. Save The Date! The three-way interview is a very important occasion for you, your child and the teacher, as you will be able to discuss the achievements and progress of your child and to set goals for the remainder of the year. Interview notes will be sent home shortly to all families.

Problem of the Week Remember to look out for the problem of the week in every newsletter this term. Problems will vary in the degree of difficulty from week to week. It is fine to work with a family member as long as learning takes place. Write your answer with your name and class on a piece of paper. Place this in the Problem of the Week box located in the office. On newsletter day, the first correct answers drawn out of the box for K-6 will be our Problem Solving Award Recipient. Be sure to include your working on your answer sheet. Good luck everyone! Problem K-2 Label the following 3D shape. Remember to include the faces, edges and vertices. Square Prism or Cube Problem 3-6 A class of 24 students is planning a camping trip. The school has tents that fit three people each and backpacks that can be shared one between two students. The teacher wants the class to be split into cooking groups that will be as small as possible so that everyone sharing a tent will be in the same cooking group. Also, each pair of students sharing a backpack will need to be in the same cooking group. How many students will be in each cooking group? Explain how you arrived at your answer. Farsi News
