PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Princesses, Heroes and Hogwarts students abounded at our Book Week Parade this morning. Our students and their teachers, had a great me dressing up as their favourite book characters and it was wonderful to see so many of our community out to join in the fun. Congratula ons to everyone for their crea vity, the costumes were amazing. Thanks go to Mrs Norton for organising and running this event.
On a similar note, our Book Week Book Fair con nues to be very popular. Just a reminder, if you have not yet had a chance to get up to the library and see all the books and goodies on offer, tomorrow is the last day.
Last week our Stage Three students went to visit Canberra. From all accounts they had a great me and were able to par cipate in some very interes ng and fun experiences. I would like to commend our senior students for their a tude and behaviour while away from school, we are very proud. I would also like to thank Mr Sco , Miss Ridgeway, Miss Carr and Mr Burke for giving of their me to make this excursion possible.
Our P&C Father’s day stall was a great success and I am sure that many of our dads and grandads were feeling a li le spoiled on Sunday with some of the special gi s they received. Thank you to the P&C fundraising commi ee and all the parents who gave up their me to organise and run this stall to support our school. We are very lucky to have such an outstanding team working with us.
Our P&C fundraising commi ee are currently very hard at work on our Spring Fair to be held on Saturday 21st October. The Spring Fair is our major school fundraising ini a ve for the year and we will be working to raise much needed funds towards the replacement of our aging classroom Smart Boards. We are currently looking for dona ons of goods and me to support our Spring Fair, notes will come home soon to let you know how you can help or get in touch with our P&C through their facebook group.
Congratula ons to some of our students achieving great things in the spor ng arena this fortnight. Will Z, Shan S and Amelia R all represented Hillsborough PS at the Regional Athle cs Carnival. All students performed extremely well, with Amelia earning a place to represent our Region at the State Carnival next month.
All of our students have been enjoying our revamped playground, much improved by the addi on of Stage One and Stage Two soccer fields, complete with goals. This had been a request by our Student Parliament and we are very grateful to Mrs and Mr Pike for construc ng these goals for us.
We have been experiencing difficul es throughout this year with some community members misusing our Kiss and Ride Zone.
Kiss and Ride Zones are designed for your convenience and for your child’s safety. Designed for quick entry and exit, they will minimise conges on and risk when used properly by all parents and carers. These zones operate under the same condi ons as no parking zones, which means you may stop to drop off or pick up children for a maximum of 2 minutes. You're required to remain in, or within 3 metres of, your vehicle. From Service NSW.
Please make sure that you are using our zone correctly ‐ do not park in the zone and if your child is not ready to get in the car when you pull up please exit the zone and drive round the block to try again. Our school is situated in a very busy area with very li le convenient parking; being considerate of others when parking, using our Kiss and Ride zones and crossing at the designated crossing will keep all of our families safe and happy.
Classrooms all around the school are buzzing with excitement as classes prepare to perform in our whole school performance, “The Down Under Downs”. Special talents are being put to good use, music is being prepared and dances fine‐tuned so we are ready for our ‘world tour’ next Wednesday and Thursday.

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT CONTINUED
Our full dress rehearsal is on Monday 11th September and all students will be expected to have their costumes to wear on this day. The musical itself will be performed next Wednesday and Thursday nights [13th and 14th], star ng at 6pm and a ma nee on the 14th beginning at 12pm. The P&C canteen will be open before the night performances selling drinks and snacks –please note, these goods are for audience members only and are not for the students to take to classrooms.
All children are to a end both night performances and are expected to arrive at classrooms ready to perform between 5:30pm and 5:45pm (class teachers will send out more specific instruc ons). Those taking advantage of this must keep to a maximum of 5k/h. The school accepts no responsibility to damage or the from vehicles.
Tickets are $5 and there are currently seats available for all three performances. Tickets can be purchased in any volume. We are all looking forward to a wonderful evening and hope to see you there.
We are currently looking to finalise our Kindergarten enrolment for 2018 ready for Orienta on sessions in Term 4. At the moment our numbers seem fairly stable at 11 classes with two Kindergarten classes. Our enrolment commi ee will meet in the last week of term to consider enrolment applica ons. If you, or anyone you know, are considering enrolling a student at Hillsborough PS in 2018 please ensure they speak to our Office staff as soon as possible.
