PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Princesses, Heroes and Hogwarts students abounded at our Book Week Parade this morning. Our students and their teachers, had a great Ɵme dressing up as their favourite book characters and it was wonderful to see so many of our community out to join in the fun. CongratulaƟons to everyone for their creaƟvity, the costumes were amazing. Thanks go to Mrs Norton for organising and running this event. On a similar note, our Book Week Book Fair conƟnues to be very popular. Just a reminder, if you have not yet had a chance to get up to the library and see all the books and goodies on oer, tomorrow is the last day. Last week our Stage Three students went to visit Canberra. From all accounts they had a great Ɵme and were able to parƟcipate in some very interesƟng and fun experiences. I would like to commend our senior students for their aƫtude and behaviour while away from school, we are very proud. I would also like to thank Mr ScoƩ, Miss Ridgeway, Miss Carr and Mr Burke for giving of their Ɵme to make this excursion possible. Our P&C Father’s day stall was a great success and I am sure that many of our dads and grandads were feeling a liƩle spoiled on Sunday with some of the special giŌs they received. Thank you to the P&C fundraising commiƩee and all the parents who gave up their Ɵme to organise and run this stall to support our school. We are very lucky to have such an outstanding team working with us. Our P&C fundraising commiƩee are currently very hard at work on our Spring Fair to be held on Saturday 21st October. The Spring Fair is our major school fundraising iniƟaƟve for the year and we will be working to raise much needed funds towards the replacement of our aging classroom Smart Boards. We are currently looking for donaƟons of goods and Ɵme to support our Spring Fair, notes will come home soon to let you know how you can help or get in touch with our P&C through their facebook group. CongratulaƟons to some of our students achieving great things in the sporƟng arena this fortnight. Will Z, ShanƟ S and Amelia R all represented Hillsborough PS at the Regional AthleƟcs Carnival. All students performed extremely well, with Amelia earning a place to represent our Region at the State Carnival next month. All of our students have been enjoying our revamped playground, much improved by the addiƟon of Stage One and Stage Two soccer elds, complete with goals. This had been a request by our Student Parliament and we are very grateful to Mrs and Mr Pike for construcƟng these goals for us. We have been experiencing diculƟes throughout this year with some community members misusing our Kiss and Ride Zone. Kiss and Ride Zones are designed for your convenience and for your child’s safety. Designed for quick entry and exit, they will minimise congesƟon and risk when used properly by all parents and carers. These zones operate under the same condiƟons as no parking zones, which means you may stop to drop oor pick up children for a maximum of 2 minutes. You're required to remain in, or within 3 metres of, your vehicle. From Service NSW. Please make sure that you are using our zone correctly do not park in the zone and if your child is not ready to get in the car when you pull up please exit the zone and drive round the block to try again. Our school is situated in a very busy area with very liƩle convenient parking; being considerate of others when parking, using our Kiss and Ride zones and crossing at the designated crossing will keep all of our families safe and happy. Classrooms all around the school are buzzing with excitement as classes prepare to perform in our whole school performance, “The Down Under Downs”. Special talents are being put to good use, music is being prepared and dances netuned so we are ready for our ‘world tour’ next Wednesday and Thursday. Term 3 Week 8 September 6 2017
