A word from the School Sport Partnership
Welcome to the Amber Valley School Sport Partnership (SSP). As an SSP weprovide, support and facilitate many activities within Physical Education andSchool Sport across the 72 schools in Amber Valley ranging from competitions,leadership and volunteering, extra-curricular activity support, professionaldevelopment and many other aspects relating to our industry. We aim to provideas many high quality experiences for all our young people in Amber Valley whichwill ultimately aim to encourage lifelong participation in sport and physicalactivity.I would like to thank all the companies, businesses and partners for sponsoringthe SSP, by helping us we have been able to develop and improve our deliveryprogrammes for 2011/2012. I'd also like to thank all the clubs, volunteers,leaders and everyone else who is involved making our programmes successful.We have an exciting year ahead in the lead up to London 2012 and I lookforward to welcoming you to many of these events and activities throughout theyear.

Sportshall Athletics Competition 20.10.2011
A full house of parents, over 35 sports leaders and around 100 pupils roaredtheir teams on during the final 4 x 1 relay races. Crich Carr took 1st place with400 points, Coppice were 2nd place with 390 points, Fritchely were 3rd with 270and Milford were 4th with 160. 1st place in the large schools finals wereSwanwick with 680, only 10 points behind were Mundy Junior with 670, St. Johnswere 3rd with 560 and Ripley Junior 4th with 530.
Both Crich Carr and Swanwick will now represent Amber Valley at the countyevents in March.
The year 3 and 4 cluster events were well attended and we part of the extensiveprogramme run in Amber Valley which saw over 700 young people competingand 250 young volunteers supporting our events.
Congratulations to all of our competitors, leaders for supporting, school andteachers for entering & volunteering and parents for supporting.
The closest ever sportshall athletics competitions tookplace at Alfreton Leisure Centre on Thursday 20th October 2011.
Olympic Mascot
The SSP managed to gain access to one of the Olympic Mascots on 11thNovember. Wenlock came to visit us, albeit briefly, to pass on the Olympic spiritand also bring a little of London to Amber Valley. This was part of a biggerprogram of activities, competitions and events being run by the SSP throughoutthis Olympic year kick started by Olympic workshops run in primary schools andpart funded by County Councilors Makin, Bradford and MacDonald.Photographed are students from Mill Hill secondary school, St Johns and RipleyInfant, with Wenlock and the 1948 Olympic Torch used in the last Olympics heldin England.

Olympic Dates & Interest
We have an action packed year coming up within Amber Valley in the leadup to London 2012. We have one of our nationally recognised sportsambassadors working in the infant, junior and primary schools deliveringfun workshops on the Olympics to enthuse and engage with hundreds ofyoung people in preparation for 2012. In addition to this, in partnershipwith the Borough Council, we have also invited four other countries toAmber Valley next year to stay for a week and be involved in the OlympicTorch relay celebrations and other sporting activities throughout theweek! The Olympics and Paralympics are one of the biggest sportingevents in the world and to celebrate them being in the UK we are planningto cycle a student made torch to every special educational needs schoolin Derbyshire, our aim is to raise the profile of disability sport and theParalympics.
