Term 1 2020

March Issue

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

Talk about hit the ground running in 2020! We are all in full swing now. The students have settled into school particularly well with all classes busy with teaching and learning every day. Shortly you will receive information about your child's parent, teacher and student 3 way confer-ence. This is a great opportunity for you to participate in setting some learning goals for your child and be a part of their ongoing learning.

Congratulations and thankyou to our new 007 Student Leaders. These leaders have just completed 3 days of training and will be out and about in our school playground running activities for juniors and being supportive of our younger students. Their moto is as always "big looks after little". Our extra curricular activities have also commenced with Star Struck rehearsals already underway, rugby league games played and cricket approaching on Thursday. It is great to see students participating in a wide range of activities, with even more to come during the year.

Our school is receiving some programmed maintenance in the weeks ahead. We have already had our Computer Room painted and painting has started on the Maker Space Room. Next week the painters will start moving into some of the classrooms to start freshening them up. We are also having our guttering around classrooms and the Library replaced.

On an exciting note the school has just received a Sustainable Schools Grant to construct an Aquaponics garden. This will include a water tank, fish ponds and grow beds. Watch this space as the plans evolve.

Kind regards, Andrew Price, Relieving Principal

Tell Them From Me survey Parent/Teacher Conferences

Canteen News The Canteen is open Monday to Friday.

Lunch/ recess / fruit break orders need to be handed in by 9:15am, must include child’s name and class. Please order from the Jacaranda Café RTPS 2019 Menu. A NEW menu will be out soon!

I am delighted that this term, our school, like many other public schools in the state,

will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me

student feedback survey. The survey measures factors that are known to affect

academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW wide

survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices. More

information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nse.gov.au

The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and

quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with

school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. More than 6,300

schools in Australia and around the world have used Tell Them From Me to survey

5.4 million students. Capturing the voices of our students will help improve how we

do things at our school.

I want to ensure you that the survey is confidential. The survey is conducted online

and will typically take less than 30 minutes to complete. It will be administered the

school hours between 9th March and 8th May. Participating in the survey is entirely

voluntary.

A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers about the survey is being sent home

with students. If you do not want your child or children to participate, please return

the form to school 7th March. Copies of the form and FAQs are available from

http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents

Thank you,

Mrs Michelle Abel, Assistant Principal, R.T.P.S.
