BAND INFORMATION

Directions In Music welcome students to our new band program for 2010 at NSDS. As we arenearing the end of Term we would like to extend many thanks to everyone who has helped usget this new program underway especially our conductors Melinda Hole (B2) and Jane-MarieTalese (B3). We are very excited to have joined NSDS as part of their music program. Thechildren are extremely talented and we are very lucky to be working with them as well as theirwonderful tutors.

Our first concert will be held next week at the Band Breakfast on the 31st of March. All threebands will be performing at this event and we are very much looking forward to it. B3 will beplaying first from 8.10am, followed by B2 and then B1. All children should be at school attheir usual ARRIVAL TIME OF 7.45am. They should all be practising their repertoire inpreparation for this concert. B3 should be practising pages 6 and 7, B2 should be practising"Tequila" and "Raiders March" and B1 should be practising "In the Hall of the Mountain King","Blue Mountain Legend" and "Rock around the Clock".

In addition to band at school, we'd like to extend an invitation to students interested inexpanding their music ability, to audition for Phil Molloy's Allstars Band. The DIM ALLSTARSWIND BAND is designed to provide experienced students the chance to shine in an ensembleof outstanding young players. The band is equipped with the latest equipment and resourcesand repertoire. Our chief conductor is Phil Molloy. Rehearsals will be held during the schoolterm on Tuesday evenings from 5.15pm-6.45pm at Randwick Boys High School (Corner Avoca& Rainbow Streets, Randwick) and includes children from all over Sydney This band is alsoopen to children who aren't in band at school and includes piano and bass guitar.

This band performs around Sydney throughout the year and enters into various competitions. We'd love for some North Sydney children to audition, especially as we do not have anyrepresentatives from this school yet. A few children have applied to audition from this school soperhaps car pooling can be arranged if the kids are interested in being a part of this band.Auditions will be held in Week 10, Tuesday the 30th of March and are open for children year 5and up. For more information please contact our office via the website athttps://www.directionsinmusic.com.au/extension_program.aspx.

We are looking forward to a great band year at North Sydney Demonstration School for 2010.
