Dear Parents and Carers, I feel honoured and thrilled to have been appointed Principal of Hamilton South Public School. I have also met with the school executive team to better understand the learning and wellbeing needs of students. I feel incredibly well supported in this role and look forward to getting to know students, staff and the community better. Dear Parents and Carers,

I feel honoured and thrilled to have been appointed Principal of Hamilton South Public School.

In the holidays I had the opportunity to meet with Mrs Estens and discuss ongoing matters relating to the school and its community. I have also met with the school executive team to better understand the learning and wellbeing needs of students.

I thank the staff and students who have already given me (and our other new staff) such a warm welcome. I feel incredibly well supported in this role and look forward to getting to know students, staff and the community better.

At the moment it is challenging to meet as a whole community to introduce myself in person, however I hope to meet many of you at drop off, pick up and P&C meetings. If you see me, please don’t hesitate to say ‘hi’ and have a chat.

We are currently looking into alternatives to the ‘Welcome Back Breakfast’ that are possible under the COVID Safe guidelines for schools.

2021 COVID 19 Advice

2020 presented unique challenges and opportunities for NSW schools. While we are not quite back to business as usual yet, I can assure the community that our dedicated staff will continue to do our best to provide a safe and supportive learning environment in which students have a full range of opportunities both in an out of the classroom.

The updated COVID 19 guidelines for families can be found here: https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/advice-for-families

Some key changes for Term 1 2021 are:

• The use of the Service NSW QR code for checking in. This is in addition to signing in at the front office and completing an external visitor form.

• Bubblers can now be used. However, we continue to encourage students to bring their own drink bottle.

We will keep you informed of any changes.

New Staff

In addition to me, we have three new staff members as HSPS:

• Pamela McClellan, our School Administrative Manager • Fiona Miller, Relieving Assistant Principal for Early Stage 1 • Lara Jones, School Counsellor

Air Conditioners

All of B and C Block classrooms had air conditioners successfully installed over the holidays. With such erratic weather at the moment, I am sure that these new additions will make the classrooms much more comfortable.

While in most circumstances correspondence is best directed to your child’s classroom teacher or the school email inbox, should you need to contact me directly, my email address is [email protected]

I am looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

Best Wishes, Mark Warren Principal

STARLIGHT SUPER SWIM Two of Hamilton South’s year 4 students, Will Miller and Laila Classie, have signed up to do this year’s Starlight Super Swim. They have committed to swimming laps over the next few weeks from 26 January to 24 February, to raise funds for the Starlight Foundation. They are seeking for people to sponsor them, so if people would like to support them in their fund raising you can go to their swim page at: www.superswim.org.au and search for either Will Miller or Laila Classie. You can also see their progress online and see their reasons for taking on this challenge. PARKING AROUND SCHOOL ZONES
