    NEC Infrontia Corporation ("NEC-i") and its Licensor NECInfrontia, Inc. ("NECII") grants to sublicense to the end-user

    ("You") the use of the Software preinstalled in the InasetTM you

    acquired ("Product") pursuant to the following terms and

    conditions.

    1. TERMS

    (1) This Agreement is effective upon using the Product and

    shall remain in force until terminated.

    (2) You may terminate it voluntarily at any time by written

    notice as indicated in Section 9.

    (3) NECII may terminate this Agreement without notice upon

    your failure to abide by this Agreement.

    (4) All provisions of this Agreement relating to disclaimers of

    warranties, limitation of liability, remedies, or damage, and

    NECII or its supplier's proprietary rights shall survive

    termination.

    2. LICENSE

    NECII grants you a nonexclusive and royalty-free license to use

    the software solely on the Product which is provided to you as

    preinstalled in the Product ("Software").

    3.RESTRICTIONS

    (1) You may not rent or lease the Software, but you may

    transfer the Product, the Software (not a part) and

    accompanying documentation on a permanent basis,

    provided that you retain no copies of the Software and the

    recipient agrees to be bound by all of the terms and

    conditions of this Agreement.

    (2) You agree not to modify, alter, decompile, disassemble,

    reverse engineer or otherwise attempt to derive the Source

    Code of the Software.

    (3) You may not copy the Software.

    (4) You may not use the Software other than in connection

    with the Product.

    (5) You will not export or re-export the Software without the

    appropriate United States or foreign government licenses.

    4. TITLE

    Title to and ownership of the Software, related documentation

    and any reproduction thereof shall remain with NECII, its

    affiliates and its suppliers and the trademarks are the property

    of such trademark owners. This Agreement does not grant you

    any right (whenever by license, ownership or otherwise) in or to

    patents, copyrights, trade secrets, trade names, trademarks or

    any other intellectual property right with respect to the Software.

    5. COPYRIGHT

    THE SOFTWARE IS COPYRIGHTED AND, EXCEPT AS

    PERMITTED BY THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MAY NOT

    DUPLICATE THE SOFTWARE OR DISCLOSE IT TO ANY

    OTHER PARTY.

    6. LIMITED WARRANTY

    YOU AGREE THAT THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED AND

    LICENSED "AS IS." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED

    BY APPLICABLE LAW, NECII AND ITS SUPPLIERS

    DISCLAIM ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS

    OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED

    WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR APARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT, WITH

    REGARD TO THE SOFTWARE. YOU BEAR THE ENTIRE

    RISK RELATING TO THE QUALITY OF THE SOFTWARE

    AND, IF THE SOFTWARE PROVES TO HAVE ANY DEFECTS,

    YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ANY NECESSARY SERVICING

    OR REPAIRS. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE

    EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THAT THE

    ABOVE EXTENSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS

    WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIAL LEGAL RIGHTS AND

    YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM

    STATE TO STATE.

    7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

    TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE

    LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL NECII OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE

    LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING,

    WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF PROFIT,

    INTERRUPTATION OF BUSINESS, OR ANY INDIRECT,

    SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF

    ANY KIND) REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION

    WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING

    NEGLIGENCE), STRICT PRODUCT LIABILITY OR

    OTHERWISE, EVEN IF NECII HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE

    POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL

    NECII BE LIABLE FOR ANY AMOUNT IN EXCESS OF THE

    AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE

    PORTION OF THE PRODUCT. BECAUSE SOME STATES DO

    NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

    FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, THE

    ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

    8. OTHERS

    (1) This Agreement shall be construed and interpreted

    according to the laws of Connecticut.

    (2) The Software is a "commercial item" as that term is defined

    in 48 C.F.R. 2.101, consisting of "commercial computer

    software" and "commercial computer software

    documentation" as such terms are used in 48 C.F.R.

    12.212. Consistent with 48 C.F.R. 12.212 and 48 C.F.R.

    227.7202-1 through 227.7202-4, NECII provides the

    Software to U.S. Government End Users only pursuant to

    the terms and conditions therein.

    (3) You are hereby notified that Wind River K.K. and its

    licensors ("Wind River") are a third-party beneficiary to this

    Agreement to the extent that this Agreement contains

    provisions which relate to your use of the software

    provided by Wind River. Such provisions are made

    expressly for the benefit of Wind River and are enforceable

    by Wind River in addition to NECII.

    PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE USING THE INASETTM: USING THE

    PRODUCT SHALL INDICATE THAT YOUR COMPANY HAS ACCEPTED THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS LEGAL

    AGREEMENT. AS REFERENCED HEREIN, IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, YOU SHOULD

    IMMEDIATELY RETURN THE PRODUCT UNUSED TO THE COMPANY FROM WHICH YOU PURCHASED IT WITHIN A

    What is INASET R2?

    NEC INASET desktop terminals deliver traditional business functionalitywhile providing new value not typically offered by a voicecommunication device. The INASET comes embedded with a JAVAVirtual Machine for running JAVA applications. In addition to basictelephony features, INASET provides:

    A single IP device for multiple functions such as telephone, Internet,and customized business applications

    Peer-to-peer IP telephony connectivity Phone directory for storage of personal and corporate information

    Internet browsing capability

    Display of calling partys name and number

    Built-in inbound call history

    Ability to customize function and speed dial keys, and more

    INASET R2 Overview

    INASET R2 provides the ability to run basic applications that are either

    embedded in the INASET terminal, or downloaded from the network.The INASET also includes a web browser with optional TelephonyTransformation Gateway. The two application mode capabilities are:

    Network Application Mode

    Designed to implement multiple network-based applicationsdeveloped by NEC or other third parties using the INASETsapplication keys. The NEC INASET Software Developers Kit(SDK) describes how to configure the application keys to loadapplications and launch URLs using a simple XML file.

    Supports the optional OpenWorX Applications for INASET,providing users with enhanced calling features by using thenetwork-based OpenWorX shared directory. These applicationsinclude: Corporate and Personal directories

    Inbound and Outbound Call Logging with call return Location Status Text Messaging Screen Pop

    Local Application Mode

    The INASET application keys operate in a fixed configuration usingthis mode.

    The application keys are used to access the local Personal Directoryand Inbound Call Log applications. The Personal Directory includes import capability Inbound Call Log provides a Call Return feature

    A Browser button is also provided for network browsing and accessto custom developed applications.

    INASET Browser

    The INASET R2 integrated browser is designed to support theimplementation of integrated network applications using a wide range ofweb-based languages such as: JAVA/JSP, HTML, XML, ASP, CFM, andPHP.

    Telephony Transformation Gateway

    The optional Telephony Transformation Gateway (TTG) from Net6transforms Web pages to fit the specifications of the INASET terminal.The TTG also provides Network-based applications for INASET users.

    This guide is designed to make the NEC INASET R2 phone andOpenWorX applications easy to understand and simple to use. There are

    examples of the screens you will see in the INASET R2, with step-by-step instructions for the procedures you need to perform.

    Phone Login

    INASET R2 has a login feature that allows the phone to be locked bylogin number and password to avoid unauthorized use. This login can be

    configured as automatic or manual by your phone system administrator.If your INASET R2 has been configured for manual login, then you mustmanually login before it can be used. (See your phone systemadministrator for your login and password numbers.)

    When manual login is required, the INASET R2 Login window displayswhen INASET R2 is first started (Figure 2-2).

    Manual Login Follow these steps to login to your INASET R2 phone:

    Step 1 Enter your login number using the Dialing keys (0-9, *, #). When your

    number is entered, press the soft key forSet on the display. (If you make

    an incorrect entry, press the soft key forCancel to clear your entry and

    then re-enter your number.)

    Step 2 Now enter your password number using the Dialing keys (0-9, *, #).

    When your number is entered, press the soft key forOK on the display.(If you make an incorrect entry, press the soft key forCancel to clear

    your entry and then re-enter your number.)

    Step 3 If login was successful, the time and date will display at the top of the

    Home application window. The INASET R2 phone is now ready to use.

    NOTE

    In automatic login mode, the INASET R2 Login window will not display. The phonesystem will automatically login your INASET R2 phone for you. No additional login isrequired by you.

    Some PBX systems may require an Account code and/orAuthorization code while using INASET R2. Contact your

    phone system administrator for the specific access andaccount code numbers needed for your phone. Review thefollowing sections for entering Account and Authorizationcodes.

    Account Code

    To Enter an Account code:

    Lift handset or press Speaker key, hear dial tone.

    Enter feature access code using the dial keys, hearservice set tone.

    Putting a Call on HOLD

    To temporarily place the current active call on hold:

    Indicate to the party on the line that you will beplacing them on hold.

    Press Hold key. (Display shows caller on Hold.)

    To Retrieve a Call on Hold:

    Lift handset or press Speaker key.

    Press the line key (or press More as needed) for theline on hold.

    If Unanswered

    After a pre-programmed time with a call on hold,Automatic Recall is initiated (if enabled). A visual andaudible signal (line key flash and ring burst) is sent to thestation that placed the call on hold.

    Last Number Redial

    To redial the last number dialed:

    Press the function key for Redial. (Display shows thenumber to redial.)

    Repeat the above step until the desired number isdisplayed (for up to 5 previously dialed numbers).

    Press the # key. The number on the display isautomatically dialed.

    NOTE

    The Function keys must be configured by the user for the following functions tooperate correctly.

    Transferring a Call

    After conversing, ask the party to hold.

    Press Transfer key, hear interrupted dial tone.

    Dial destination station extension, and hang up or waitfor destination to answer.

    Callback

    Set an automatic Callback when a called number isbusy

    Press the function key for Callback. Hear service settone.

    Hang up handset.

    When both parties become idle, your INASET R2 willring. When the INASET R2 is answered, the calledstation will then ring.

    Making a Conference Call

    Using Programmed Soft Key

    With a call in progress, ask party to hold.

    Press Transfer key, hear interrupted dial tone.

    Dial desired number.

    After the call is answered, press function key for Conf.(The Conference icon will display on the INASET R2screen.)

    A three-way conference is established, beginconversation.

    Using Function Key

    With a call in progress, ask party to hold.

    Press Transfer key, hear interrupted dial tone.

    Dial desired number.

    Press function key for Conf. A three-way conference isestablished, begin conversation. (The Conference icondisplays on the INASET R2 screen.)

    Contact your phone system administrator to determine if your INASET R2 has thisfunction configured and how to specifically access it.

    Consult Third Party during a Call

    When engaged in a call and you wish to consult athird party

    Press Transfer key. Original caller is automaticallyplaced on hold.

    Dial the desired third party to consult.

    Press Transfer to return to the original caller. Thirdparty is automatically placed on hold.

    Alternately press Transfer key to switch betweenyour original caller and the third party.

    Call Camp-On

    Answer a Camped-On Call

    While engaged in a call, receive the camp-on tone(one short tone burst).

    Press the function key for Answer. The original activecall is placed on hold. Connection to camped-on call isestablished.

    Paging Transfer

    Paging Transfer is used when you receive an important callfor another party, however they are not at their desk.

    Example: Station A receives a call for Station B who isaway from their desk. Station A pages Station B.When Station B dials the paging answer code,Station A can announce the call and transfer it toStation B (to whatever phone Station B may beusing).

    Boss/Secretary Override

    The Override function allows a call between two parties tobe interrupted by a third party. This can be the case when aboss is on their line with a caller, and the secretary receivesanother call for the boss of importance to interrupt theboss.

    Setup Override Key

    Secretary presses the function key for Feature.

    Dials the Boss/Secretary Override access code.

    Presses Home key on the INASET R2 panel, thenpresses the function key for Recall.

    Dials the Boss station number, and presses thefunction key for Feature.

    INASET R2 and the PBX system can provide a station tostation intercom function. Three intercom modes arepossible, depending on the phone system configuration.

    Automatic Intercom

    Entering Text Using the Dial Keys

    The dial keys (0-9, *) are used to enter both text and numbers in thevarious INASET R2 display windows. This is required when configuringthe INASET from the Setup menu.

    Each dial key can be pressed one or more times to enter the charactersmarked on the key. The following example shows the key sequence usedto enter text.

    Example: To enter the textSmith:

    Step 1 Press 7 four times, then press the cursor right.Step 2 Press 6 once, then press cursor right.

    Step 3 Press 4 three times, then press cursor right.

    Step 4 Press 8 once, then press cursor right.

    Step 5 Press 4 two times, then press cursor right.

    On a window where text can be entered, a Soft Key at the bottom of thewindow (Char) can be pressed to alternately set the keys to enter either

    Various features of the display screen can be changed to make thedisplay easier to view and use. The back light level and font size can beadjusted and another language (if available) can be selected. A screensaver function can also be set for the INASET R2 display.

    Terminal Settings

    Changes to the Terminal feature should be made by the systemadministrator or a qualified NEC technician.

    LCD Settings

    Follow the steps to adjust the display back light level.

    Step 1 Start the Setup application as described at the beginning of this chapter.

    Language

    Screen Saver

    The Screen Saver function will blank the INASET R2 display after apreset time period of no activity. When the Screen Saver begins, anyactivity on INASET R2 will clear the saver for normal INASET R2operation. Follow the steps to setup the screen saver function for thedisplay.

    Step 1 Start the Setup application as described at the beginning of this chapter.

    At the Setup menu, use the cursor key to select LCD and press the

    Enterkey.

    Step 2 Again use the cursor key to select Screen Saverand press the Enter

    key. The LCD Setting Screen Saver window displays (Figure 3-6).

    Step 3 Press the function key forEnable to enable the Screen Saver function.

    If disabling this function, press the function key forDisable and skip toStep 5 below.

    Step 4 Press the function key forWaiting Time, and enter the time period (in

    minutes) before the Screen Saver begins. This would be the period of no

    activity on INASET before the Screen Saver would begin.

    Step 5 Press the soft key forOK, then press the soft key forSave to save your

    settings.

    Step 6 Press the soft key forOK to confirm that you really want to save your

    settings. Your display settings have now been changed. (These changes

    will not take affect until your INASET R2 phone has been reset.)

    User Settings

    Security Password

    A security password can be set on your INASET R2 phone to avoid

    unauthorized use of your phone. The security password operates withthe Security key on the lower panel of your INASET R2 phone.

    Setting (or Changing) Your Password

    Follow the steps to set or change your password.

    Step 1 Start the Setup application as described at the beginning of this chapter.

    At the Setup menu, use the cursor key to select Userand press the

    Enterkey. The User Setting window displays (Figure 3-7).

    Step 2 Press the function key forOld Password, and enter your current (old)

    password you are now using (currently set at

    Step 3 Press the function key forNew Password, and enter your new

    password.

    Network Settings

    Changes to the Network feature should be made by the systemadministrator or a qualified NEC technician.

    Application Settings

    Changes to the Application feature should be made by the systemadministrator or a qualified NEC technician.

    Soft Reset

    Causes the INASET R2 to reboot. If not configured to automatically login to the network, you will be required to re-enter your login ID andpassword for the terminal.

    Feature Options

    The Feature key provides various options that can be set for yourINASET R2 phone. To program a function key for Feature, refer toChapter 4 - Home Application Setup, Configuring Function Keys forinstructions on configuring your function keys displayed in the HomeApplication.

    Microphone On / Off

    To turn the INASET R2 built-in microphone On/Off:

    Step 1 On the Home Application window, either press the Mic button on the

    INASET phone or press the function key for Feature, and press the 1 dial

    key. The Mic lamp will illuminate when the Microphone is on.

    Step 2 Repeat the previous steps to alternately turn the microphone On/Off as

    needed.

    Handset Receiving Volume

    To adjust the Handset receiving volume:

    Step 1 On the Home Application window, press the function key forFeature,

    and press the 2 dial key. The display shows the current volume (Large,

    Small).

    Step 2 Repeat the previous steps to alternately select between Large and

    Small Handset receiving volume.

    Transmission / Receiving Volume

    To permanently change the Handset Transmission/Receiving volume:

    Step 1 On the Home Application window, press the function key forFeature,

    and press the 4 dial key. The display shows the current volume (Large,Small).

    Step 2 Repeat the previous steps to alternately select between Large and

    Small Handset Transmission/Receiving volume.

    Ringer Tones

    INASET R2 can be set with four different ringer tones. This can provide adistinctive ring on your INASET R2 phone. Follow the steps to changeyour INASET R2 ringer tone.

    Step On the Home Application window, press the function key forFeature, andpress the 3 dial key. A ringer tone will be heard. Each additional press of

    the 3 key will sound a different ringer tone. Stop on the desired ringer tone.

    Hands Free Mode

    To set the Hands-Free mode On using the Feature key:

    Step On the Home Application window, press the function key forFeature, and

    press the 5 dial key. The display shows Hands Free mode is On.

    To set the Hands-Free mode Off using the Feature key:Step On the Home Application window, press the function key forFeature, and

    press the 6 dial key. The display shows Hands Free mode is Off.

    Call Indicator

    To set the Call Indicator On/Off during ringing:

    Step 1 On the Home Application window, function key forFeature, and press

    the 7 dial key. The display shows the Indicator On.

    Step 2 Repeat the previous steps to alternately set the Indicator to On orOffas

    needed.

    NOTE

    The call indicator will light for a message waiting, even when the indicator is set to offfor incoming call ringing.

    The Local Application mode allows the user to add, edit, download, ordelete contacts to the Directory; dial or obtain details on incomingcallers; and access a browser.

    If your phone is configured to run in this mode, you will see Figure 5-1once logged in to the INASET.

    Edit Edits an existing directory entry (Figure 5-5). Modifythe existing name and contact number then press theOK function key.

    Delete Deletes a contact in the directory. Highlight the name,press the Delete function key, then press the OKfunction key.

    Download Allows the user to download a directory from the

    INASET Helper

    What is INASET Helper?INASET Helper is a upload utility allowing you to upload a dialingdirectory to your INASET R2. Any file to be uploaded must be a TAB orcomma delimited file with the name in the first column and the numberin the second column.

    The dialing directory file can be created using the Microsoft Excelapplication, then saved as a comma or tab delimited file. You can alsoexport a contact list from Outlook by choosing to export the name andnumber fields only to a comma or tab delimited text file.

    Installing INASET HelperFollow these procedures to install the INASET Helper application:

    Step 1 From the Microsoft Windows Desktop, select Start > Run, then either:

    Choose Browse and locate the directory containing the INASETHelper.exe file.

    EnterINASET Helper.exe directly into the Open field.Figure 5-9 displays.

    Using INASET Helper

    Once the installation process is complete, run the INASET Helperprogram using these steps:

    Step 1 From the Microsoft Windows Desktop, select Start > Programs >INASET Helper> Upload Directory. Figure 5-15 displays.
