Christmas Eve Horror Brittany Berger
So. I love my family’s Christmas Eve traditions. We stay at home, make punch and cookies and other fun things, and then we eat while watching The Grinch, Frosty, Charlie Brown, and other Christmas classics. But one year, my uncle and aunt randomly showed up on that night. And my parents answered the door and we couldn’t get rid of them. Ugh! THE END.
I Recall
Brittany Berger
I can still recall the days
I used to care
But emotions are heavy
and it became too much to bear
I can still recall the days
that I could look upon the world and smile
But the corners of my mouth
haven’t turned up in a long, long while
I can still recall the days
of my innocence
But the evils of the world
can ruin a child’s clear conscience
I can still recall the days
when I saw the beauty of a rainbow
But now my world has
become colorless with sorrow
I can still recall the days
when my heart was filled with song
But it’s been a long while
and those days are gone

My Birthday Leeann Nevens
My worst day of my life was my 9th birthday. I woke up with my throat killing me so I told my mom. After I woke her up early at 4:00am in the morning and took my temperature, it was normal at 98.5, so she told me to go back to sleep. So I did. And I got up 3 hours later at 7:00am and she took my temperature and I was white as a ghost. So she took it and it said 104° and my mom bundled me up right away and took me to the emergency room! I was still in my PJs and when we go there they said that I had strep throat. So we got home around 8:00, and I lay on the couch and watched anything I wanted, but I felt like I was dying! So when everyone got there I took two bites and my mom made me try on my new shirt that I got that night and she took a picture and I look like I am dying. But the worst part of my birthday dinner was that I couldn’t blow out my candles. When we were done eating I went to sleep FOREVER. THE END.

WHERE I AM FROM
Leeann Nevens
I am from parents who had 70s looks To parents with hip 21st century attitudes
I am from late nights playing outside
To late nights going to dances
I am from playing with babies To babysitting baby’s
I am from listening to CDs on my CD player
To listening to music on my iPod
I am from playing dress up To always being dressed up
I am from doing everything in our living room
To doing everything in my room
I am from only eating carrots To only eating spinach and broccoli
I am from making my own soup with dirt in the backyard
To making soup in the kitchen all by my self
I am from having little play dates To having big parties& sleepovers
I am from days where me and my sister always talked
To days that me and my sister don’t even talk
Even though I’m getting older and changing my ways I’ll always remember where I’m from!

I LIKE YOUR SHIRT…
Leeann Nevens
Do you remember?
We were practically triplets,
So close
That the only way to separate us
Would be
Him
Now, when you see me,
You won’t even glance my way
You and your friends with your
Cool Hollister clothes
Don’t you remember
the shoe flinging game
on the swings,
when we
hid our
bare feet
from the passing recess monitor?
I do
Remember
when we drew pictures
of each other in third grade
mine with a starry background,
yours sunny,
Siobhan’s rainy?
Our crayon faces,
Mismatched and lopsided,
Looked nothing like our real
ones.
But you must remember, after our
separation, the only words you
said to me
That whole year were
I like your shirt
We were practically triplets,
So close Double Exposure – Andy Fitzgerald
Don’t you remember?

Easter Tragedy Brittany Berger
I was 7 or 8 years old and it was Easter. My family and I went to my aunt’s house for dinner. After dinner (and before dessert), my cousins and I had an Easter egg hunt. We ran all over the house, searching for the pretty pastel colored eggs that were filled with jelly beans. Because I found the most, my cousins were mad and so they pelted me with their little plastic eggs. I began to cry hysterically and my family left early. No dessert.
My place
Leeann Nevens
My place is as colorful
as a rainbow after it rains
My place is cozy
My place is where I sleep
My place is where I go when
I am sad
My place is where
I do home work
My place is where
I get ready for school
My place is my room

Why?
By Leeann Nevens
I am caring & helpful
I ask myself WHY
I wonder why people don’t care
I hear people whispering about people
I see bullies
I want people to care about each other
I am caring & helpful
I ask myself WHY
I pretend to listen
I feel mad
I touch tears
I cry about why
I am caring & helpful
I ask myself WHY
I don’t understand people
I say help each other
I dream everything will be better
I try to help
I hope to be the best I can be
I am caring and helpful
I ask myself WHY

The Sailor from Eire
By Meg Grzenia
The morning broke, and the sun 'woke,
A kaleidoscope of colors danced in the sky,
And the sailor in his battered vessel,
Let out a holler worthy of Captain Bligh:
"I am her lad and she is me lass,
It won't be very long,
'till Father O'Neil sings our vows,
and the parish gathers in 'throng.
We have a farm across the glen,
it waits to be plowed and sown,
and atop the hill near our precious land
is an oak that sways and groans.
Me miss is always happy,
I ne'er saw a frown wrinkle her face,
the sun feels 'shamed at the sight of her hair,
and the moon envies her grace."
And so the sailor rocked and swayed,
his ship had carried him far,
Ol' Eire pined to reune with this barge,
and she would, for he chased the deep-sea star.
The day the sailor let fly the anchor,
his feet touched the cold, still ground,
not an eye was sparkling, or a mouth beaming,
all met the sailor with a puckered brow.
His love, he learned, was snatched away,
Some better suitor seized her pure heart,
The sailor's lass became Death's bride;
The crewman had not foreseen this on his naval chart.
"I was her lad and she was me lass,
It won't be very long,
'till our Heavenly Father sings our vows,
and the celestial souls gather in 'throng."
