state to ratify the Bill of Rights, making it the law of the land.

Communist China

The United States officially recognized the People’s Republic of China in 1978

This was done to help build a relationship with the Soviets and also to develop a trade relationship with China

Adolf Eichmann One of the architects of

the Holocaust, was given a death sentence by an Israeli war crimes tribunal in 1961.

Avoided the Nuremburg Trials and had been living in secret in Argentina before being captured by Mossad agents. http://upload.wikimedia.org/

John Lennon

John Lennon, formerly of The Beatles, gave his last live performance in 1969

This performance was benefit show with all proceeds going towards the UNICEF

U.S. Army Major Glenn Miller In 1944, a plane

carrying him and some other passengers disappeared in fog over the English Channel while traveling to Paris

It is not known what happened to the plane or its passengers

In 1979, the Shah of Iran left the country of Iran after a revolution took place which resulted in Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini becoming the head of the Iranian government

Pirates of the Caribbean One of Disney’s most

well-known attractions, Pirates of the Caribbean, opened in 1973 in the Magic Kingdom section of the park.

This attraction has spawned one of the most well-known movie series of all time.

Canadian Flag

In 1964, Canada officially adopted the flag that has the maple leaf on it.

Before this, Canada’s flag consisted of a Red Ensign with the Royal Arms of Canada
