Tecumseh High School Holds Commencement Ceremony June 2At 2 p.m. in the Nutter Center’s main arena the Class of 2019 became graduates of Tecumseh High School on June 2. After the seniors entered, Principal Aaron Oakes welcomed everyone and recognized scholarship winners. Next, senior Caitlyn Doepel gave the Springfield Clark CTC Address. After this, the senior choir members joined the choir in singing “Irish Blessing,” and then sang the Senior Song, “Little Wonders.” The Salutatorians’ Address was next, with Board of Education Vice President Sue Anne Martin introducing them. The 2019 Salutatorians were Gwendolyn Chappell, Olivia Dix, Isabelle Prenatt and Corinne Thomas. After this, Board of Education President Corinne Scott announced the names of the Valedictorians for the Valedictorians’ Address. The 2019 Valedictorians were Logan Back, David Berner, Ronnie Boling, Michael Copeland, Mackenzie Drews, Garrett Gemmaka, Anna Hoover, Michael Maiorano, Chase Mansell, Sydney Snyder and Abbigail Thornton. Board President Corinne Scott gave the Board of Education Address next and then Superintendent Paula Crew presented the Class of 2019 for graduation.

Superintendent Paula Crew put out a message letting people know how to donate to help the people affected by the Memorial Day tornados and the community response was overwhelming. Saturday, June 1, people donated enough items to fill the Tecumseh box truck twice. The truck was also parked at the Nutter Center for people to donate before graduation. AFJROTC Cadets Hold Training CampShortly after the school year ended Tecumseh AFJROTC cadets and Major Couch headed off to camp where they got to experience a wide range of activities. They had four schools, 80 cadets and 11 support staff attend and received a last minute surprise inspection from their HQ director. The HQ director is the same person who will inspect their program this coming February and he was very complementary. He was impressed with the camp and plans to encourage other schools to join it in the future.
