• Schools in the Walter Johnson cluster of Montgomery County were asked to support an Italian Language Initiative
• Kensington Parkwood began by offering after school Italian classes to students in 2001

• In the Spring of 2004, John Ceschini, principal of Kensington Parkwood was awarded one of six fellowships and traveled to Milan & Naples, Italy
