MESH CONSTRUCTION

Page 2: Task 4

A mesh of polygons is a group of vertices, edges and faces that defines the shape of a 3D model. The faces of the model consist of quadrilaterals and triangles. It is very common to build other meshes using the tools on the modelling program.

Primitive modelling is when basic objects are you to make models and as you can see on right side on one of my earlier designs I used diff erent shapes consisting of cylinders and cubes to make an interpretation of a camera

The more commonly used for constructing models is known as box modelling, there are two tools that are used for box modelling which are:The Subdivide ToolThe Extrude ToolHere is an example of box modelling being put into place when designing a simple tool

The second commonly used method would be the extrusion modelling which consists of a 2D shape which is re- adjusted to fi t a image taken and then is extruded to make a 3D shape. In these screenshots taken it show a rifle each part being seperated, extruded then put back together to create the 3D rifle.

Then finally we move onto modelling software that is referred to as sketch modelling, and this used most commonly for quick low detailed models as you can see by this rhino screenshot it show how sketch modelling can be quite useful

And now move onto a more recently found technology called 3D scanning and works incredibly well when creating highly detailed models based off real world object almost instantly as this tech is a very recent modelling device it is very expensive to purchase as you can see it being used to help design the zombie models for World War Z.
