An Intelligence Information Special Report with the aboveheading and number was issued on 2 August 1977. The. follow-ing is an update to that report:
Source learned from the Soviet General Staff officerswho authored the Combat Potentials documents referencedabove that the comparisons contained in these documentswere calculated on the basis of mathematical methods basedon the use of a computer. Source was unable to ascertainwhat factors went into the mathematical equations. TheSoviet General Staff officers informed Source that thesetables are still valid and in current use in 1980.
