Growing your business relies on interacting with customers and finding new leads. It costs 5x more to find a new customer than it does to keep an existing customer.

Your email list is a great way to keep your current customers and drive more sales. Email lists are 20x more effective than social media and 5x more effective than cold calling at generating qualified leads.

Set Up Your Email List

The first step you’ll take is to set up your email list if you don’t already have one.

MailChimp is a great tool for your email list, especially if you’re just getting started. There are other options (ie. AWeber or Constant Contact), though.

The MailChimp getting started guide is a great place to get started setting up your newsletter. You’ll get the hang of the basics of MailChimp so you can start building your email list.

Sign Up Tab On FacebookYour Facebook page is a great place to get subscribers to your email list.

People visiting your Facebook page will be able to click a tab to subscribe to your email list without ever leaving Facebook.

If you’re using MailChimp, integrating with Facebook is easy to do.

Once you’re integrated, just add a signup tab on your page. You can name it whatever you want, just keep the name short.

The Magic URLWith a formatted email list general signup form in MailChimp, you have a nice page to send people to sign up for your email list.

The following sections are filled with ideas of places you can share your special URL to get signups.

This is what the URL looks like but yours will be unique:

In MailChimp, go to the Lists tab then your list.

In the Signup forms sub-tab you can select General forms.

You’ll see a section on that page with Signup form URL which will bring people right to your email list signup form.

FacebookFacebook gives you 3 places to put your email list signup URL. Take advantage of them all. Make sure you craft a post to pin to your Facebook page. Set up a call to action button for an email list signup. Always include a link in your Facebook page about section.

TwitterYou have two opportunities to bring people from Twitter to sign up for your email list.

You can use the profile link which is a basic link with no ability to create a call-to-action.

Your other option is a pinned Tweet which gives you more versatility than the profile link.

Craft a good Tweet with a clear call-to-action, an eye catching image, and a link to your email list sign up URL.

LinkedInThere are three places you can share a link in LinkedIn. One is permanent and the other two are temporary.

Always edit your profile to include your email list sign up link. This link is permanent and anybody who views your profile will see it.

You can also share your link on your timeline or in a LinkedIn group. These are both have a limited lifespan but can still be helpful to drive email list signups.

InstagramYou only have one link in Instagram so it has to count.

People will tap on your link so be sure you have set up your email list signup page with context making the case for why people should sign up.

PinterestIn addition to being able to pin images that link to your email list signup page, you get a link in your profile.

Guest Blog PostYou don’t need your own blog to reach your target audience, tapping into other’s audience is easy. Take advantage of this opportunity by guest blogging!

You’ll get instant access to someone else’s audience by guest blogging. If you find a blog that caters to the same audience you need to reach, you’ll expand your brand reach and get new subscribers.

Be sure to include a link somewhere in your blog post to sign up for your email list.

You don’t have to invest in a website to write a blog. There are many blogging platforms that are free:

● LinkedIn● Medium● Blogger● Wordpress.com

LinkedIn and Medium have a large audience already on their service and your followers will be notified of new posts. If you put a call-to-action with a link to your email list signup, you can build your email list.
