She was off on Sunday and Monday and workedTuesday, September 11, 2001, from 5:30am until 2:00pm. She workedat the main ticket counter checking in passengers with tickets inFirst Class and those that had E xecutive Platinum, Gold andPlatinum Club memberships.BROWN stated that she checked in passengers for flight T J Twho were in the first class cabin or had the above memberships.BROW N recalled checking in Mr. YAMNICKY, an older white male, as hehad a problem w ith his ticket that had been obtained from a travelagent. YAMNICKY was not upset over the problem with his ticket, .and she w as able to resolve it for him. She also recalled checking /in Mr. DROZ, a middle aged w hite male. She recalled Mr. DROZ asshe knows an individual by the name of DROST and this manpronounced his name the same way . BR OW N advised that she alsochecked in a female passenger for flight 77 and m ay have checked inone or two others. BRO WN explained that ticket agent DIANE (EEDSworked next to her and also checked in passengers for flight 77.LEEDS was tied up with a husband and wife who were flying to Mauiand had problems with their tickets and an award coupon they weretrying to use.BROW N stated that it was a light travel day and there w asnot a long wait in line to check in. BR OW N could not recallchecking in any coach passengers, nor could she remember checkingin any A rab males or anyone acting suspicious.     Continuation of FD-302 of BRENDA BROWN ,On 9/13/01 .Page 2recalled checking in two Arab males forflight 77 . 1 I toldher that one of the individuals did not speak English. BROWN didnot recall seeing anyone in the coach check-in line that appearedsuspicious.

    BROWN stated that if a passenger is acting strange or shedoes not like the answers they gave to some of the questions asked,she will put them on the "pull list" and /or call down to the gateto tell the gate agent of the problem. BROWN advised that ifsomeone is put on the "pull list", their luggage is not put on theplane until the passenger presents himself for boarding. BROWNstated that she will also put a passenger on the "pull list" ifthey do not have a picture ID, if they refuse to answer thesecurity questions, or if they make an inappropriate comment.BROWN advised that if a passenger says the word "bomb" she callsthe airport police and her supervisor.

    BROWN stated that approximately two months ago she wasworking at a gate and saw a man with a utility knife on top of hiscarry on bag. She challenged the man and he said that there werefive or six of them with similar knives. BROWN advised that theknives all had approximately four inch blades and were the typeused to cut boxes. BROWN stated that he was shocked that airportsecurity had let these people through. BROWN advised that shetried to make an issue out of the incident, however the securitypeople were not interested.BROWN stated that she has never been arrested. She livesalone and is not aware of anyone in her family ever being arrested.No one has ever asked her to put something on an airplane, nor hasanyone asked her to give anything to a passenger. She did not putanything on flight 77/144, nor did she give anything to a passengeron flight 77.     She has been employed as a Fleet Service Clerk for fiveyears. ESCUADROstated that on Monday, September 10th, she worked from 14:30 until19:30 for MIKE MUELLER. Shealso worked from 20:30 September 10th,until 1:30am on September 11th, for IMTENAN SAEED. ESCUADROadvised that in addition to regular days off, an employee can takeup to 24 days off every three months. ESCUADRO explained that theemployee who takes off does not get paid and the individual whoworks their hours, gets paid. ESCUADRO stated that M UELLER alwaystakes off, and SAEED asked her to work for him as his wife recentlyhad a baby and he wanted to spend time with his family. SAEED alsogoes to school.

    ESCUADRO advised that D AVID PIOLI parked flight 144 whenit arrived, and NICOLE SUMMERS unloaded the bags from the aft cargohold. She and CARLO S PEDEMONTE loaded the bags on to the cart anddrove them over to the main terminal and unloaded them. ESCUADROstated that she saw SUMMERS close the aft cargo door, but she couldnot verify that the hold was empty. When she returned she went tothe line room to wa it for the next flight. ESCUADRO advised thatthe mail freight peoplewere handling themail for flight 144.

    ESCUADRO advised that after she worked flight 1938, shesaw SAEED outside the break room. ESCUADRO estimated that she sawSAEED at approximately 10:00pm. ESCUADRO stated that she askedSAEED what he was doing there since she was working his hours, andhe told her he had to xerox the birth certificate for his baby inorder to get family leave. ESCUAD RO advised that SAEED asked her

One timehe saw bags being sent through the screener without anyone sittingat the monitor. PAYNE stated that he reported the event to BRITISHAIRWAYS and it was resolved. PAYNE advised that approximatelythree weeks ago he saw bags on the carousel going through themachine but the screener was not looking at the monitor. Thescreener put stickers on all of the bags without paying attentionto the results of the monitor. PAYNE stated that he did not reportthis and did not give it any more thought until the events ofSeptember 11, 2001.

He worked flight 144 when it arrived fromLos Angeles on Monday, September 10th. His crew consisted of CUE,PANTA, SUMMERS, and TURNIPSEED. PIOLI explained that since flight144 was going to remain overnight, only he and NICOLE SUMMERShandled the plane. Cleaning of the interior of the airplane washandled by the overnight crew. PIOLI stated that he "tipped in" orguided the flight in. Summers was the wing man. He hooked up theplane so it would receive electricity. He unloaded the forwardcargo hold. PIOLI advised that the front cargo hold containedabout 10bags and a couple hundred pounds of mail. PIOLI statedthat he made sure that the front cargo hold was empty, and then

    locked the compartment and went to the aft cargo hold where SUMMERSwas unloading baggage. PIOLI advised that he asked SUMMERS if sheneeded help and she told him she did not. PIOLI stated that hehelped the bag loaders put the bags on to the cart to be brought tothe main terminal. PIOLI further stated that QUAMI TWUM handledthe waste disposal of the lavatories from the exterior of theplane. PIOLI explained that usually whoever handles the wastedisposal does not have to go on to the plane unless something isclogged. PIOLI explained that he saw TWUM in the waste disposaltruck at the aft of the airplane. PIOLI did not know if TWUM wentinto the airplane. PIOLI advised that after the airplane landed, amechanic put the chocks behind the wheels and walked around theairplane. PIOLI stated that the mechanicwalked around the

PIOLI explained that he saw themechanic walk around the airplane, but he did not know if he walkedon board. PIOLI advised that he saw SUMMERS close the aft cargohold and they went back to the line room together to wait for theirnext flight. PIOLI stated that the airplane was left at the gatewith the jetway rolled up to the door so the crew and the crewchief could have access to the plane. PIOLI explained that theelectricity is not unhooked until the pilot authorizes the removalof the line, so the airplane was hooked up all night. PIOLIadvised that he got off work that night at 9:45pm.

    PIOLI stated that he returned to work at 3:00pm onTuesday. A coworker, BOB FURBUSH, told him that he pushed flight77 away from the gate and that the pilot moved sooner thanexpected. PIOLI explained that 757's and 737's need to be pushedback from the gate with a tractor. The pilots are usually verycareful about waiting for the individual pushing them out to getout of the way before they start the engines. PIOLI advised thatFURBUSH told him that the pilot must have been in a hurry as he didnot wait for FURBUSH to get out of the way and the wing came overhis head.PIOLI stated that he has never been arrested. This companyclaimed to have developed a device that could locate airline "blackboxes" at crash sites. This company was offering the technology inan effort to find the "black boxes" from the airliners that crashedinto the World Trade Center.Schuler contacted the company in Tennessee and determinedthey did not have a device that was currently operating that couldlocate anairline "black box". Schuler did not believe such adevice would be operational in the near future.
