MASS INTENTIONS As Christians, we are all invited to serve others – and to serve with a smile! We are challenged to drink the cup of Jesus by laying down our lives in humble, sacrificial service for others, just as Jesus did. The best place to begin the process of service by “self-giving," is our own homes and workplaces. When parents sacrifice their time, talents, health and blessings for the welfare of others in the family, they are serving God. Service always involves suffering, because we can’t help another without some sacrifice on our part. We are rendering great service to others also when we present them and their needs before God daily in our prayers.

Children’s Liturgy We are in need of volunteers to help out for the Saturday 5:00pm mass. We are asking for a couple of parents to be present along with one of the priests who will preside at Children’s Liturgy. All we need

is your presence and to help with minor tasks. Just attend one of the sessions to see it for yourself and then help out if you wish.

Food Drive “A community that shares makes a difference” We ask the commu-nity to please help us to help the poor in our community. We are still in need of non-perishable food, please leave your donations

in the box located at the entrance of the church. Monetary donations are also welcomed you can leave them at the office. May God Bless you for all your generosity.

Weekend Mass Attendance Count His eminence, Cardinal Collins has requested that a mass attendance count be conducted on the week-ends of October 17-18 and 24-25. The Count is

intended to count all Sunday Vigil and Sunday Masses as well as Holy Communion Visits to house bound parishioners or in retirement or care facilities. The count will take place immedi-ately after the homily (during the creed and prayer of the faithful) so as to allow a more accurate counting of those present.

Marian Consecration The Companions of the Heralds of the Gospel have been invited to our parish to prepare us to Consecrate to Jesus through Mary. The first class will be Thursday Nov. 5 at 7pm the consecration celebration mass will be Tuesday December 8 at 7pm in the parish.

Teaching Mass The Confirmation Class will be having a “Teaching Mass” next Sunday, October 25 at 7:00pm as part of their pro-gram and it will be open to any-

one who wishes to attend and still fulfill Sunday Obligation. This mass will be longer than normal and will include teaching mo-ments during the mass itself. Students, parents and sponsors will be attending this mass. Join

Mass of Dedication and Recognition Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7:30pm

This mass is about recognizing those who made a sacrificial five year pledge as well as those who contributed with commemorative items such as the Restoration of the Stain Glass Windows and other items that are not as visible but foundational to our parish. We invite the entire community to join together and join me in expressing our gratitude for the difference made by those who responded so gener-ously and sacrificially for our community. Following the mass we will join in our Parish Hall to celebrate.

October is a very special month for our parish as we have the bless-ing of celebrating the Feast of our Patron St. Jude on :

Wednesday, October 28th. (solemn mass at 7:00pm) We Need Your Help

Pray for Vocations

Jesus’ life was the best ‘job de-scription’: sympathy; mercy; ser-vice; compassion; and total giving. Life is rewarding when one lives

for others. Do you want to serve or be served? If you are willing to serve as a priest, religious or deacon, call Fr. Chris Lemieux, Vocation Director, Archdiocese of Toronto at 416-968-0997 or email [email protected]

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion Meeting

Our plan is to have 4 ses-sions on the following Tuesdays at 7:30pm in the Holy Family Room: Ses-sion 1: Nov 3 (Fr. Paul); Session 2: Nov 10 (Fr .

Paul); Session 3: Nov 17 (Fr. Efren) and Session 4: Nov 24 (Fr . Efren) If you did not attend our initial meeting, please be sure to attend the four sessions as scheduled above even if you are in-volved in other ministries during the Sunday masses. (i.e. lector, usher, etc). This training will help you decide which ministry to focus in for the next term.

Development and Peace Campaign

“Let’s make Canada a climate leader!” In December, world leaders will meet in Paris at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) to negoti-ate a binding and universal agreement on the world’s climate. Countries like Cana-da will need to transition to renewable energies, and move away from fossil fuels. Next weekend, you will be invit-ed to sign a Development and Peace Ac-tion card, which will be distributed at all

masses, the weekend of October 24/25. This card will be asking the Prime Min-ister to sign on to an agreement at COP21 that is to set the target to keep the rise in global temperature below 2 degrees Celsius and to be a leader in achieving that target. Every signature counts and matters.

Lectors Weekday masses Lec-tors our next sessions are October 29th and November 5th. We meet after mass in the Holy Family Room.

Weekend mass Lectors: Our last session is Saturday, October 31 at 10am in the Church. We needed to postpone it in order to have enough time and space to practice in the Church. Please review your calendar and we thank you for your understanding.

Hospitality Ministry Thursday Evening Group

The final session for those who attended the Thursday evening sessions is Satur-day October 31 at 9:00am. This change has been made in order to have both groups together in this final session as we explore the practical aspects of their role in the Church itself. Saturday Morning Group The remaining classes 9:00am-10:00am Session 3: October 24 (Fr. Efren) Session 4: October 31 (Fr. Efren)

Offertory News!!! Changes to PAG: Please contact the Parish office to make any changes to your Pre-Authorized Giving’s prior to notifying your bank with the changes.

Questions for Reflection:

Can God use your actions or your suffer-ings to accomplish God’s work in the world today?

Are you unable to understand other peo-ples weaknesses?

What does unselfish service look like in your parish, work or home? On a larger scale could it change the world? How?
