FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Unfortunately, we had a major problem with both of our photocopiers which meant they were out of action from Thursday and until Tuesday. As such, we have decided to send out this week’s newsletter a day earlier, to ensure information about the athletics carnival, Mothers’ Day Stall etc is received. Our years 3 and 5 students are undertaking the NAPLAN online testing next week, starting on Tuesday. Today, they will also have received an information sheet which should answer any questions you may have. If your child is away at any time next week, there is the option for them to take a make-up test at another time. On Monday of next week, Senior Constable Beard, our Youth Liaison Officer, will speak with all our students. Years K-2 will have keeping safe talks and Years 3-6 will discuss cyber safety and social media. Finally, we have extended the period for expressions of interest for the primary camps. Please get these in ASAP so we can finalise numbers with the camps. Reports for Medical Professionals On occasions, parents ask for a report from the school to take to a doctor or paediatric appointment or similar. Whilst we endeavour to do so, we are often asked at the last minute. On other occasions, the report is lost or forgotten. If you do require a report, please do the following:
1) Contact the office and ask them to let me,
Mr Patatoukos, know 2) Provide the name of the doctor and their
email address as well as your own email 3) Provide the date and nature of the
appointment.
Mr Patatoukos will get the appropriate staff, which may include the counsellor, to contribute to the report. The report will then be emailed to the doctor and yourself, as well as a hard copy provided for you. Eric Patatoukos Principal

Let's Celebrate Families Reading Together!
We know that reading role models and shared reading time are critical to a child’s learning and literacy development. In fact, research shows that family reading time is
one of the BEST ways to grow a child’s interest in the wonderful world of books.
Kids who read, succeed!

BEING FRIENDLY
We are commencing our Peer Support lessons this week.
The whole school participates in Peer Support for 30 minutes each week. Two Peer leaders facilitate a small group of 8-10 younger students, who work together through a number of
structured activities.
Each teacher will supervise 2-3 groups in their classroom. We are working on a module called Keeping Friends helping us explore the concept of friendship, build relationships and
develop skills in empathy and critical thinking. The module runs for 8 sessions.
Our first session enables the children to get to know everyone in their group, agreeing on how they will work together and
interact cooperatively with others. They will also begin to think about the meaning of friendship.
We encourage you to talk to your children about Peer Support every week as it will help to reinforce the concepts learned in
each session.
As mentioned in previous newsletters, the last Braddy Farmers Market was a huge success.
Overall the profit was in excess of $3200, with the cake stall bringing in over $1250! With the federal election being called on 18 May, we have been provided with another
opportunity to host another market! We realise how close this is to our last fundraiser, but it would be a shame not to take advantage of this opportunity. This will bring us one step closer
to achieving our goal of purchasing the rubber matting for underneath the adventure playground.
Your support with this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated - whether it be in the form of
your time, or your delicious baking! Thanks in advance!
The Braddy Farmers Markets are fast approaching.
Funds raised from this event will be put towards the purchase of
rubber matting for underneath the adventure playground. There are
several ways you could assist with this fundraiser. Firstly, by donating
baked goods to be sold at the P & C Cake Stall. These can be brought
into the school on Friday 17 May or on the day.
We also need volunteers on the day to assist with the BBQ, the cake
stall and selling of raffle tickets. If you are able to spare a couple of
hours, please complete the form below and we will contact you to
confirm times.
