Two weeks down and eight to go! Our students
and staff are working hard in our classrooms on a
daily basis and making every minute count.
Please make sure to keep referring to your term
planner and our Windale PS Facebook page and
Skoolbag app for updates to ensure you don’t
miss any events in this our busiest term of the
year.
2019 SCHOOL LEADERS
Our attention now turns to preparations for 2019
with our Year 5 students nominating for school
leadership positions in the coming weeks. Mr
Garland and Mrs McBay have been working with
our Year 5 students throughout the year
preparing them for this exciting opportunity and
going through the timeline of when things will
happen this term. A copy of the criteria and
timeline of when nominations, speeches and
announcements has been compiled by Mr
Garland and is included in this week’s newsletter
for your reference. We will also be voting for our
2019 House Captains and Student Representative
Councillors in the coming weeks. We wish all our
students the very best and good luck through
this process.
ANTI-RACISM PLAN
As outlined in the Department of Education’s
Strategic Plan 2018-2022, we at Windale PS
believe it is our mission to prepare our students
to lead rewarding and productive lives in a
complex and dynamic world. No matter how
busy our school gets with special events and
activities, our core business still remains
improving the learning outcomes for every
student in our school from Preschool to Year 6.
This is only possible with everyone including
students, parents/carers and the school working
together in partnership. As part of our annual
review of school procedures and guidelines to
meet Department of Education policy
requirements, we have recently completed our
update of the school’s Anti-Racism Plan which is
now available for viewing on our school website
at https://windale-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-
our-school/rules-and-policies/anti-racism-policy-
2018.html Thank you to Ms Melissa Carter who
has coordinated this review with focus groups of
students, community consultation and staff led
professional learning to ensure our new plan
meets updated Departmental requirements and
is reflective of feedback from all stakeholders.
LIFE EDUCATION
From Monday 12th November to Thursday 15th
November, we will have Healthy Harold and the
Hunter Life Education visiting our school to
deliver Life Education classes to our children. A
big thank you to ANSVAR INSURANCE for
supporting the funding of these classes at our
school this year so that there is no cost to
families in our community. Life Education
supports us by empowering Hunter young
people to make safer and healthier choices
through education and our students thoroughly
enjoy these lessons.
NOTES AND PAYMENT OF MONEY FOR
EXCURSIONS/SPORT/ACTIVITIES
As you know this year we have tried to ensure
we are giving families as much notice as possible
about upcoming events/activities through
publishing term planners as well as continuing to
publicise events through our Facebook page and
Skoolbag app. This has worked really well with
many families bringing in notes and paying for
events as soon as they can. It has, however,
meant that activities such as gala days and our
swimming scheme have booked out very quickly.
To avoid disappointment I encourage families to
return notes and money as soon as you can to
ensure this doesn’t happen to you. Numbers for
events and activities have set limits which are
beyond our control and cannot be extended
which is why we have set deadlines that we must
stick to.
Have a fantastic week of learning everyone!
