SUNDAY NOTES

Are you looking for a place to ‘plug-in’ to activities at Peace, or are you interested in making disciples for Christ? New discipleship teams are forming and we need you! We will meet May 8 in the parlor. At 6:30pm, we'll present an overview of the teams (this is a repeat of the April 17 presentation in case you missed it). At 7:30pm, everyone interested in being on a team is invited to come and we'll break into initial teams. See the discipleship table in the gym for more info and check out the discipleship information on the Peace web site (go to 'forms,' then 'other forms', then 'discipleship').

Our ash trees along Adams Avenue must be removed. We plan to replace them in May with a mix of maples and ornamental pears. Would you like to sponsor a new tree? They can become a long-standing memorial to a loved one. Contact Mike Socier at the church office – 793.9025, extension 307.

Mark your calendars...

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

June 17-21, 9-11:30 am

at the Lawndale campus.

School Notes

Summer Math, Language Arts, Spanish and Keyboarding Skills Sharpener Books: Order forms for the Summer Math Skills Sharp-ener program are available in the Peace School Office. The cost of each book is $20.00 and once ordered, they will be sent directly to your home. Available books are in the areas of Math, Language Arts, Spanish and Keyboard-ing. Sample books are in the office to review. Come in and take a look. We have been told that they are good for summer review and rein-forcement of skills. L.A.M.P. — GETTING CLOSER TO OUR GOAL BY THE DAY! As of Tuesday, we have raised $7,457.94! We have reached and now surpassed our mission goal of $6,000.00 for L.A.M.P. The exciting news is that each dollar that is raised will be matched by an anonymous donor. God is so good. The students of Peace are excited. They still have several more weeks to increase this amount even more, so that L.A.M.P. (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots) will have funding to do even more ministry with the

children of Northern Canada. Thank you to everyone who has assisted in helping the stu-dents reach their goal! The annual meeting of the Valley Lutheran High School Association will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, May 15, in the high school re-source center. Valley Lutheran High School has an open-ing for a part-time teacher in one or more of the following areas: Spanish, French and Eng-lish. The ideal candidate will be a commis-sioned minister of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod certified to teach high school Spanish, French and/or English. Other appli-cants may be considered. Please mail (3560 McCarty, Saginaw 48603), fax (989-790-1680) or e-mail ([email protected]) a resume’ with references and cover letter to Dr. John Brandt, Executive Director/Principal. For more infor-mation call Dr. Brandt at the school 989.790.1676.

Youth Alert

Junior High

Our Sunday night youth program continues this Sunday. We invite all our 6-8th graders to join us on Sunday nights. We have fellowship at 5pm, followed by praise and worship at 5:30pm, and break into our small groups for Bible study at 6:15-7pm. All 6-8th grade students are encouraged to attend. Don’t forget the Confirmation requirement of 20 Bible studies for 6-8th graders. Our last Sunday night is May 12. Our last Tuesday is May 14.

Confirmation practice for students and at least one parent is scheduled for Tues-day, May 14, at 6:30pm. Confirmation day is Sunday, May 19, at the 11:15

service. Students need to be downstairs outside the youth office by 10:45.

It’s Coming! Our Michigan District Youth Gathering will be held at Mission Point Resort at beautiful Mackinac Island June 22-26, 2014. It’s early, but it’s time to plan for this amazing event. Our theme is “LIGHTHOUSE” which focuses on the scripture, “You are the light of the world”. Plan now to attend our informa-tional meeting on Sunday, September 29, at 4pm in the youth center. Deposits of $150 will be due by the end of October. Anyone with questions, please talk to Mr. Minda.

Senior High

Our Sunday night Bible Study continues this Sunday. If you plan to be in God Squad for 2013, please know that you need to be in WEEKLY Bible Study. This year God Squad members MUST attend Sunday night Bible Study. God Squad membership is important for our mentoring of Junior High youth and leader-ship at Spring Retreat. Many God Squad are not meeting their requirement of weekly Bible study.

CALLING ALL 9-12 GRADERS: Our National Youth Gathering in San Anto-nio, Texas will take place June 29-July 7, 2013. Our next meeting will be in the youth center on June 2 at 1pm. (NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE.) Final pay-

ments are due by June 2.

Summer Retreat is August 10-11 for grades 9-12 and ALL GOD SQUAD.
