How did you get your current job? From a previous internship. I interned with Farm Credit Mid-America during summer 2015. I first discovered Farm Credit Mid-America during the CFAES Career Expo and an internship presentation for a club meeting. Major: Agribusiness and Applied Economics Minor: Agricultural Communication Employer: Farm Credit Mid-America Job Title: Financial Officer Location: Bellefontaine, Ohio Summer McCracken CFAES Career Development cfaes.osu.edu/careers @CFAESCareers What does your job entail on a day to day basis? Every day is different. Some days you are out of the office passing out donuts at the elevator, some days you are entering in loans for a big farm auction coming up and some days you are doing a little bit of everything. I need variation and flexibility with work. If I did the same thing every day, I would go crazy. What organizations were you involved in during your college career? Nearly all of them it felt like. In my four years, I was involved in some combination of the following: CFAES Ambassador Team (2014-17), Alpha Zeta Partners (2014-17, Chancellor in 2017), Buckeye Dairy Club (2016-17), Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (2013-17, Night of Young Professionals Chair in 2015 and 2016), CFAES Celebration of Students Banquet (Co-Chair in 2017), Saddle and Sirloin (2013-2016), Bucket and Dipper Junior Class Honorary (2015-16, Selection Committee Chair), Agribusiness Club (2013-2014). What did you learn from being involved in student organizations? Student organizations provided me with the opportunity to network among peers and make lasting friendships while preparing me through real life experiences. I learned about leadership, managing projects, event planning and how to motivate others through my extracurricular activities at Ohio State. What is your fondest college memory? Rushing the field during the University of Michigan game my senior year aſter double overtime will go down as one of my top college memories. Very few students have had this opportunity to rush the field, let alone against our biggest rival at one of the most intense football battles in history. What is the most rewarding part of your job? e most rewarding part of my job is working one-on-one with customers. I assist young farmers purchase their first piece of ground as well as help farmers understand their farm financials to increase efficiency and have higher profit margins. More from Summer: Going to e Ohio State University was the best decision I have ever made. I cannot picture my life any other way and I owe it to my family as well as faculty, staff and friends I made at Ohio State. As always, GO BUCKS!
