At more than any other time in human history, the education of the whole person has become criti-cally important, requiring not only a new vocab-ulary, but a more extended vernacular. In an age where technology challenges all of us on a daily basis to renew our most essential skills, relation-ships and perceptions, society needs artists, phi-losophers and scientists who can navigate across this changing landscape. Educating leaders to participate in this exciting era of cross-disciplinary exploration is a fundamental goal in our pedagogy.

Within this portfolio are projects created by the students enrolled at SDSU in the School of Art + Design during the fall 2013 semester. Guided by their instructors, these projects demonstrate not only mastery in a particular academic program, craft or trade, but also an understanding of the world’s logic, theories and history in the context of a larger, more complex and demanding dynamic.
