History of BaltoThe year Balto helpedwas in 1925. The city of Nome
had kids who had a sickness named diphtheria.
And the medicine was in Anchorage, Alaska. It was 800 miles away! They tried train and it went 100 miles. But it got stuck in deep snow. So they tried a dog sled relay. So Gunnar ( balto’s musher) were in it. There were 21 dog teams. Balto finally got to go.
