• Turn in LBSS Transcript Request form as soon as you know of any definite schools you plan to apply

• Meet with counselor to go over college plans

• Complete college applications online

• Check recommendation and other requirements for each college

• Send all ACT/SAT scores to your colleges

(LBSS does not send test scores)

• If you have a college that requires a TEACHER recommendation: Plan early—provide minimum of 4 weeks notice

when submitting Transcript Release Form

Ask teacher first and obtain teacher’s email address

Invite teacher electronically OR

Provide teacher with a stamped, addressed envelope to the college admissions office

Instruct teacher to use your legal name, DOB and LBSS letterhead

Follow up with a thank-you

COUNSELOR LETTERIf you have a college that REQUIRES a COUNSELOR recommendation:• Plan early—provide minimum of 4 weeks notice when

submitting Transcript Release Form

• Indicate letter required on the Transcript Release Form

• Provide Counselor with:

– Student Self Evaluation Form and Parent Questionnaire by Sept 30th (if not submitted junior year)

– Resume or List of Activities

– Two Comment Forms (should be different than the teachers who are writing the recommendations)

Student Services, What we do• Upon receipt of a transcript request, we begin the process of

understanding what is required, due dates and putting the pieces of the application together.

• Each packet that we submit includes a transcript, a Secondary School Report, the school profile, the FCPS profile and if requested, a counselor letter.

• We mail, via USPS, all Common App requests

• If a college uses, eDocs, we submit the materials electronically through Family Connection

• All submissions are mailed by the college due date. If your college requires to receive materials by the due date, please communicate

that to us.

• Work closely with your school counselor.– Be patient - each counselor has approximately 80

seniors and are also working with 220 underclassmen – Counselors complete packets by the application

deadlines (NOT by date the student turns in the transcript form)

– Monitor college websites for application status– Inform Transcript Assistant (Mrs. Morehouse) ASAP if

a college notifies you that the transcript package did not arrive.

– Keep in mind there is a “lag time” to match all pieces of application

• Adhere to DEADLINES-- work with us so we get your package to your colleges on time.
