A greAt dAy for the red

    Sox And their fAnS

    By Adam

This game was the most amazing opening day game ev-

er in the history of baseball. In Boston over just Fenway

Park, it had been hailing and pouring all day, which is really

strange but nobody really cared. The Sox game had alreadybeen delayed for 3 days, and they wouldnt be delayed any

longer. So they played through it.

The Red Sox really wanted to win this game. They need

ed revenge on the now good (for now) Rays for beating

the Sox in last seasons game 7 of the ALCS, taking away

their chances of a repeat (they lost to the Phillies in the

World Series in what could arguably be the least watched

    World Series of the decade).

The Sox ace Josh Beckett had a no-hitter going through

6 innings, but he also got at least a 60 minute rest between

each inning because the Sox scored 13 runs in the 1st, 17 in

the 2nd, 19 in the 3rd, 23 in the 4th and scored at least 5 runs

in each inning. Their bats were so good that game, the

Rays used up all their pitchers on their roster so they had

to call up pitchers from the minors.

Things got crazy during the 5th inning. A huge Sox fa-

natic ran onto the eld dressed in a Coke can costume.

It caused a 30-minute delay. Finally some random girl in

a Pepsi can costume came and tackled him (even though

Coke is way better than Pepsi).

And as a gift to the fans since of the occasion, everyonewas given a hamburger a Coke.

    Everyone liked that.

The Sox ended up beating the Rays 100-2. Fans ran on-

to the eld after the nal pitch was thrown. They lifted

Josh Beckett into the air. Everyone was awestruck.

David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis combined for 13 home

runs, 22 runs batted in, 3 triple baggers, 26 hits, and both hit

for a cycle. This 1-2 threat is arguably the best in the major

leagues, since the pair of Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz

(who split up after last years last minute 3-way trade which

sent Manny to the Dodgers, some prospects from LAs farm

league, to the Pirates, Jason Bay to the Red Sox, and some

prospects from the Red Sox farm league to Pittsburgh).

While offensively Ortiz and Youkilis dominated, people

werent giving enough credit to former Rookie of the Year

and MVP, Dustin Pedroia, who single-handedly stopped

the Rays offense. He handed the Rays at least 2 of the 3

What do you get when you combine the Red Sox, Yan-

kees, Pepsi, Coke, the Green Monster, pouring rain and a

    hamburger?

Some creative work rom Marbleheads Charter School

    students.

The articles in this newsletter are the work o fth- and

sixth-graders who composed the student newspaper

group or the schools enrichment-program relationship with

    neighbor HCPro, Inc.

I gave the students a scenario involving a fctional Red

Sox game, and they wrote a story playing o the ollowing

    components:

The Red Sox led the Yankees or Rays 100-2

    It was pouring rain

A Yankees an painted a NY logo on the Green Monster

A man dressed in a Coke bottle broke onto the feld and

was tackled by a woman in a Pepsi uniorm

Everyone ate a hamburger at the ballpark

And this newsletter is the byproduct o their hard work.

outs each inning. He made amazing plays almost every

time that he got the ball.

Second year outelder Jacoby Ellsbury was a stealing

king that wonderful night. Jacoby stole 3 bags on the sameat bat! He stole 2nd one pitch, 3rd on another, and then he

stole home. He had 9 stolen bases by the end of the night.

He also made a diving play in the 7th inning that robbed a

would-be triple. But sadly he had to leave the game with a

    shoulder injury.

After the game was done and everyone was gone, a

die-hard Yankee fan and his posse spray painted the

Green Monster and put a giant Yankee logo on it. He al-

    A great day < continued from p. 1

so gave the Green Monster a moustache. The names of

the fans are still unknown, but there was an empty spray

paint bottle and a pile of burned Red Sox cards left on the

eld in the morning. This is under investigation by localpolicemen.

    7 Months Later

The day of the Red Sox championship parade was

beautiful. The sun was shining and everyone was excited.

The Sox had won in a 4 game sweep of the Dodgers. Ev-

ery one had a great day and they lived happily ever after

    (for the day at least).

    WAS it Jeter?

    By Alexander

The Boston Red Sox won the game against the New

    York Yankees 100 2.

Everyone single person on the Red Sox, pitchers not

included hit at least a home run.

During this game, the rainpoured down in buckets!

Drenched in the rain the Yan-

    kees tripped and ell, missing

    the baseballs!

    In that inning, the sixth,

    the Red Sox got seventy-fve

    o their runs, leaving three

    men on base, with no outs;

    when the Umpire gave the

New York Yankees a mercy rule.

Only Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter scored the only

    runs that game.

During the seventh inning as a promotional gimmick,

the Coca-Cola Company had a man dressed in a Coke

    bottle run onto the feld.

To prove that Pepsi was tougher, a woman dressed

in a Pepsi bottle tackled the Coke man. Ater that hap-

pened, the Pepsi woman cheered and Wally had to come

out and stop her. The delay lasted 30 minutes. To pro-

tect their image, Coke gave the crowd ree hamburgers

    and Coke.

Josh Beckett pitched the game, stellar perormance,

with Jonathon Papelbon closing out thegame. Every player on the Red Sox

    scored three runs.

Ater the game, one o the

    Yankees players, accompanied

by a die-hard an, broke into

the ballpark, armed with a base-

ball, a bat, and grafti, spray-painted

the Green Monster with the New York

symbol, and let the signed baseball

    and bat at the scene.

The mystery o who the die-hard

an is still unknown. Authorities think that the player

in Derek Jeter because the bat said, Derek Jeter, BOO!

Red Sox! Yankees Rule! Green Monster STINKS! Love,

    Derek.

    More inormation is still unknown.

    By Brad

It was the bottom o the 9th, and the Red Sox were

winning 100-2, and the Rays were trailing by 20 miles.

It is raining like hail and then rom its fzzy goodness

a guy in a Coke bottle ran onto the feld hitting all o the

    players he could hit.

And as you know Coke and Pepsi are rivals and then

a lady wearing a Pepsi can ran ater the man and did a

diving tackle. To protect their ame Coke gave out ree

    Cokes and hamburgers.

Then ater the game a die-hard Yankees an snuck

into Fenway Park with a spray paint bottle and a base-

ball bat signed by A-Rod and he spray-painted the Yan-

    kees logo.

The next day when the Red Sox came or their dai-

ly practice, they ound the Yankees logo on the Green

    Monster and got really angry.

So ater practice they set a sign at every pole close

to Fenway Park. 25 days later they ound who sprayed

painted the Green Monster. They ound who did it be-

cause he let the bat, which had his ull name.

So he had to go to jail or fve years or wrecking a

    Boston monument.

    Why give uS Coke?

    By Greg

    The Red Sox won 100-2.

They did hit the baseball and got 100 home runs!

    Can you believe it?

They hit 100 home runs and it was pouring rain

and it looked like nobody was there. Then the huge

Yankee ans painted the NY sign on a giant logo sign

on the Green Monster and did more Yankee signs

    on the wall.

Ater that, a guy dressed in a Coke bottle and

ran through the feld everyone was mad at him and

then a girl thought o something -- she dressed into

a Pepsi girl and she was 5 years old and ran through

the feld and tackled at the Coke bottle and the

crowd said, Yea yea yea yea! GO PEPSI!

The crowd was actually having hamburger and

Coke. They thought, Why do we have Coke? It is so

stupid or us to have Coke? GIVE US PEPSI, GIVE US

    PEPSI!

The RED SOX won the game.

    the amazing game

    By John

One crazy, rainy day, a guy wearing Coke ran out

onto the baseball feld (Fenway Park) and got tackled

by a girl wearing Pepsi; the game got delayed or 30

    minutes.Right in the mid-

    dle o the game the

    Red Sox scored 100

    runs, crushing the Yan-

    kees!!!! The crowd went

    WILD!!!!

    Once they settled

    down they all fnished

    their hamburgers.

    Ater the game ended

    a Yankees an was mad

that the Red Sox won, he wrote a big Yankees sym-

bol all over the Green Monsters ace.

    THATS SO DISS!!!!

    THIS WAS A REMARKABLE GAME!!!!!!!!!

big Yankees logo on the Green Monster.

The next day the Red Sox played and saw the big Yan-

kees logo on the Green Monster also the Red Sox beat

    the Rays 100-2.

Maybe the logo was good luck. Luckily the game was

played through rain and the Yankees logo was gone.

A guy in a Coke bottle suit delayed the game by

running around the feld. A girl in a Pepsi bottle at-

tacked the man and then the crowd started attacking

    the man too.

That had to be the unniest game I ever went to.

    By Sara

Last night at the Red Sox, the Red Sox won 100-2! It

disguised in a COKE bottle ran into the MIDDLE OF THE

    FIELD!!!!!!!

The random guy got tackled by a woman dressed up

    in a PEPSI BOTTLE!

The game got delayed 30 minutes. Everybody in the

stadium was eating a hamburger and drinking a coke(MY FAVORITE).

A ew hours ater the extreme game, a YANKEES

FAN (EEW!!) painted a giant Yankees logo on the Green

    Monster!!!

It was so disgusting, that it took FFOORREEVVEERR!!

To clean it o the Green Monster then, they had to re-

paint it took a while till it was back to normal. One day, a while later some people got together and

made an origination to get revenge on the Yankees. They

decided to on Christmas to glue coal all over the Yankees

stadium [HA HA HA HA!!!!]. It was a sight or the Red

    Sox to see.

They laughed or days and days, it was EXTREAM-

    By Zahira

The winning team Red Sox has 100 and Yankees have 2.

It was pouring rain outside. The Red Sox are sweating

    and crazy about winning.

In the middle o the game, a man dressed in a Coke

bottle delayed the game then a girl that was dressed in

Pepsi as well. They were running in

the feld and then they were both

    tackling each other. It took

    about 30 minutes. Then the

    crowd was yelling win the

    fght, and then everyonewas laughing.

    Everyone in the crowd

had maybe about 10 or twenty

hamburgers and like about a lot o

Cokes. Then there was a at dude that

ate more than anyone and got 30 hamburgers and 20

    Cokes.

Then, barging in, a Yankee an went to the Green

Monster and spray-painted the Green Monster and

put on a Yankee Logo on it. Then everybody was like,

Wow!!!!! What did he do to the Green Monster?

Then everybody even the Red Sox players were go-

ing to hit and maybe tackle the Yankee an. Then as you

could see, the Yankee players were happy. Then ater the

    guy was beaten up.

The Red Sox were up. Big Papi was the batter. The

pitcher threw the ball, then the crowd went silent, and

bid daddy hit a HOME RUN!!!

Then the crowd was surprised and then Big Pa-

pi was running but was this Big Papi that hit a home

run? He was still running, and then the all o the

Yankees were walking and the coach said, Look, he

didnt a hit a home run. But then they all looked

back and saw that the ball was running alling down

in the feld and all o those players were running to

    get it.

Big Papi was still running and all o them didnt

make it to the ball. He was just amazed.

It was the sixth inning, and there was the score

102-4. Then it was a poor thing that Manny was

kicked out o the team. We wereall sad.

    The Red Sox were pitch-

    ing, and there were one

out and a person on frst

    base and another on sec-

    ond base. Mike Lowell was

    pitching. One o the Yankee

    players hit a home run.

    Then a weird thing happened.

A car drove in, and you looked

inside and you saw a dead zombie

    then no one cared.

    On with the game.

Then it was the end o the eighth inning and the

Red Sox had 129, and the Yankees had 129, too. Then

the Red Sox were batting, and up next was Jason Bay.

Then Jason Bay hit a home run, and that was the end

    o the game.
